Dinosaur herd buried in Noahs Flood in Inner Mongolia, China
by Tas Walker Published: 14 April 2009
An international team of scientists have uncovered graphic evidence of the deadly terror unleashed on a herd of dinosaurs as they were buried under sediment by the rising waters of Noahs Flood in western Inner Mongolia (figure 1).[1]
Dinosaur bones were first discovered at the site, located at the base of a small hill in the Gobi Desert, in 1978 by a Chinese geologist. After about 20 years, a team of Chinese and Japanese scientists recovered the first skeletons, which they named Sinornithomimus, meaning Chinese bird mimic.
A few years later in 2001, the international team excavated the remains of more than 25 dinosaurs, creating a large quarry in the process as they as they followed the skeletons into the base of the hill. Remarkable excavation
As the team carefully mapped the location of the bones and strata that contained them (figure 2), it became clear that the dinosaurs were all within the same layer of mudstone (i.e. the same bedding plane), generally facing the same direction and remarkably well preserved.[2]...

One main reason why geologists two hundred years ago could not explain an old Earth, was that they could not account for how the interior could still be hot enough to be molten after many billions of years. Then radioactive decay was discovered, and we had a mechanism to explain where the energy came from to keep the interior molten.
Similarly, nobody could explain any chemical reaction that would explain the sun burning for billions of years, until nuclear fusion was figured out.
To assume that the teachings of Christ by example and metaphor is God-inspired, but that all other teaching of the Bible as recorded by generations of Jews are NOT examples and metaphors is a very tenuous construct, and does not flow logically (and the Jews are great lovers of logic).
Too often we worry about the words themselves, and ignore the meanings behind them. It would be a shame to read Ayn Rand's classic Atlas Shrugged as only a collection of words and an interesting story without considering the strong political, economic, and philosophical threads (so relevant to today) underlying the yarn.
Likewise the Bible. To read the Bible as a literal history or textbook is ignoring 99% of it. Does it make David's slaying of Goliath any less important if Goliath was 9 feet tall or 10 feet tall? No, the actual fact of Goliath's size is immaterial, or even if David used a sling or a bow and arrow! What matters is that David - a simple shepherd - killed a hardened, trained soldier in one-on-one combat when all other Israelites were afraid.
It was not the size of Goliath or the weapons used that mattered - it was that God's chosen man won against insurmountable odds BECAUSE he was God's chosen man!
Anyway, I've had lots of time talking with YEC and what I call jihadi Christians, those who put the literal words in the Bible on a pedestal as if the words themselves are inerrant. It borders on idolatry, if not being so outright.
What's amazing is that most of these jihadi Christians bash the Catholic Church for "worshiping Mary" with their veneration of Mary. When in fact it is NOT the personage of Mary that matters but her example of obedience and submission to God. Again, they cannot look past the literal and understand that it is metaphor and reflective (I get it, and I'm not even a Catholic!).
It's the truth of the metaphor and meaning behind that is lost for examination of only the written words.
I think we’re in agreement...:)
I just get frustrated when so many evangelizing opportunities are blown because someone demands that a highly illogical - and in fact, scientifically provable lie - is held up as what one must believe if you’re a Christian.
These are fun to discuss in Sunday afternoons when digesting the meal; in public, it should be the central tenets of the Bible: God created all (how is irrelevant), God loves us, and God sacrificed His Son so that we could experience a relationship with God once again.
All else is simply window dressing!
Fools.
Thanks for the ping G!
What caused this layer to have such a high iridium level? Current theory is that a large meteor (about the size of Manhattan) hit the Earth. Iridium, although extremely rare on the Earth's crust, is common in many meteors. Around the same time as this event, the dinos all became extinct.
Of a Truth, the words of God are spirit and life. The words of men are neither spirit nor life.
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: - John 10:27
Why do ye not understand my speech? [even] because ye cannot hear my word. John 8:43
Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. Matthew 22:29
LMAO
I think we’re largely in agreement as well.
And you are 100% right about the loss of evangelizing opportunities. Did you see the St. Augustine quote I gave earlier in the thread (post #28)? He says the exact same thing.
Forgive me my prickliness about taking the Bible literally. I used to be scientifically-minded agnostic and through a long struggle eventually came back to the Christianity in which I was raised. One of the hardest things for me to accept was the Resurrection. I couldn’t accept Jesus rose in a literal sense, so I played at the edges for a while, thinking it was metaphorical somehow. But the whole thing really didn’t make sense.
Well, to make a long story short, I was reading an article about the Shroud and St, John’s Gospel when it suddenly clicked in my brain....what if the Gospel was *literally* true? What if he actually saw what he saw and is just reporting that? All of a sudden the whole narrative made sense for me in a way it never did before. I’ve been a believer ever since, and even though I still have a skeptical streak, I’ve come to look with scorn upon those theologians who have a perennial beef against the literal sense of the text! :)
No problem with the prickliness! In fact, if I knew you back when you were agnostic and some Christian was trying to convince you of the literalness of the resurrection I would have smacked him upside the head and said “back off”.
We’re to SHOW the meaning of Christ, we’re to EXPLAIN the reason, but we’re to let GOD do the conversion. Anything that would have driven you from continual internal struggle would be a hindrance.
Preach the Good News; don’t beat people to death with it!
Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee
Moreover, some suggest that “tail” is a euphemism for male genitalia. Support for this is based on another meaning of the Hebrew word “move” which means “extend” and on the second part of verse 17 describing the sinew around its “stones” (the Vulgate uses the word “testiculorum”).[2]

Nor could they explain how the sun could 'burn' for millions of years without going out.
You are ignoring this one!
19 His is the first of God’s ways; [only] his Maker can draw His sword [against him].
And of course this translation:
17 His tail hardens like a cedar; the sinews of his tendons are knit together.
And what does this mean?
“And that day will two monsters be parted, one monster, a female named Leviathan in order to dwell in the abyss of the ocean over the fountains of water; and (the other), a male called Behemoth, which holds his chest in an invisible desert whose name is Dundayin, east of the garden of Eden.” - 1 Enoch 60:7-8
The bible mentions behometh 2 times and unicorns 9 times. Where are the unicorn fossils?
