A Firearms Transaction Record, or Form 4473, is a United States government form that must be filled out when a person purchases a firearm from a Federal Firearm License holder (such as a gun shop). The Form 4473 contains name, address, date of birth, government-issued photo ID, National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) background check transaction number, make/model/serial number of the firearm, and a short federal affidavit stating that the purchaser is eligible to purchase firearms under federal law. Lying on this form is a felony and can be punished by up to five years in prison in addition to fines, even if the transaction is simply denied by the NICS.[citation needed] The dealer also records all information from the Form 4473 into their "bound-book". A dealer must keep this log the entire time they are in business and is required to surrender the log to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) upon retirement from the firearms business. The ATF is allowed to inspect, as well as request a copy of the Form 4473 from the dealer during the course of a criminal investigation
So what? They only know what you bought. If you don’t still have it they can’t do sh*t. They cannot arrest millions because they don’t believe that they sold or lost them.

What you said is correct, however it’s my understanding that they are prohibited from entering the information into a database (meaning electronic storage). Is that correct?

They are not calling soldiers “DoD civilians” to bypass anything.
You have numerous DoD civilians to include fire fighters, doctors, nurses, IT specialists, etc, etc who get deployed to support military operations overseas.
I havn’t heard of it.
I must not have explained myself clearly. I know there are civilians employed by the DoD to support our military both here and overseas. I knew a large number of them when I lived in Colorado, and I know a few FReepers who support our military in that way as well...

However the ATF as done just that in the past; even getting reprimanded by congress for doing so. If you listen to the gun dealer talking to the “background check” folks on the phone, he’s telling them about what kind of gun you’re buying as well as your name and address.
I was shocked a few years back, when I was buying a 30-06 for my son, and was told I had to fill out a detailed form for a long gun! I hadn’t heard about any law requiring any approval process for long guns, and I’m not sure there is. I suspect it’s a case of the ATF enacting its own legislation again. I was also informed by the dealer that the ATF makes them KEEP THE PAPERWORK FOR 7 YEARS!

They use their emotions to make decisions. They have way too many people in their groups who want to be leaders, not soldiers. This causes a rupture as no one will be willing to take orders. You’ve seen how these people balk at doing as they are told on the job, that’s why they have a huge unemployment rate or are unable to hold down a job at all.
We have a lot of people here who are thoughtful, silent, and willing to be soldiers, not chiefs. We don’t allow emotions to run away with us. We are some of the coolest most methodical people on earth. We’re a quiet power, not people who screech and end up being nothing.
Wasting time trying to show that they aren’t playing fair is pointless. We need to concentrate on being as ruthless as they are.
