Great ideas Jim. Particularly networking with fellow conservatives in our respective areas. One of Alinsky's methods is to isolate opposition. That would be us. Perhaps a way to combat this and get into mothin is to set up meetings with fellow FReepers in a given area. Do you want individuals to contact others in our areas? Will this violate any trust?

Further, our fundamental problem is American Citizens are so brainwashed they don't find the truth about current conditions believable. They cannot believe there are international conspiracies that operate against our country. They cannot believe a fifth column operates with impunity in this country. They don;t even believe the fifth column exists. (Hell, most of the people on FR don't believe there are conspiracies against the United States.) And they won't change their minds even when exposed to the words, rants, and actions of our enemies. This is the first real hurdle, developing arguments and methods that allow us to reach and influence our fellow citizens.

FReep mail Nuc 1 if you are in the southern Vermont area and wish to meet. This includes neighboring states.

While we just had a baby, count me in.

We need to develop alternative means now, before the time runs out.

Received from Rush web site submission:
"Here is a copy of the email you just sent to Rush Limbaugh, The Doctor of Democracy"
(on Jan 27 so far no response.)

Hi Rush,
Being born behind the Iron Curtain, living through communist hell, losing loved ones to religious persecution, it pains me to see the “change” being imposed on America.

Thank you for keeping us sane and hammering at the bolsheviks. I have been your fan since you started in NY, never could get through the EIB phone curtain, but I hope this email will reach you. Seeing the degeneration and drifting of republicans from beloved Goldwater and Reagan father's foundation, I think we need to have incubator of Reaganites to produce the politicians with backbone.

Knowing that you would not take the paycut and run for el Presidente, here is my proposition for possible solution to our problem and with your immeasurable influence: Starting RCU - Reagan (or Rush) Conservative University. The purpose is to educate potential candidates for the political offices to run our country right. We can have online division to start and groom the pool of candidates. We can have intensive RCU Boot Camps at our resort (NY-NJ-PA tristate area) with prominent conservative “professors” in our secluded and classy resort environment. We are in process of restoring the place and will be willing to make it available for RCU and rallies. With your involvement, audience and pool of patriots from FreeRepublic.com this could stem the commie tide and save this land of free and brave from becoming the red nightmare. We could start with current crop of republican drifters in Senate and Congress.

I hope this email reaches you and I would be more than happy to further explore the idea. Thanks again for your hours of wisdom.
God Bless you, 73 & TerraDittos from ...... Leo Carpathian
(I replaced here my name and contact info) I can provide detais about the resort, 165 acres suitable for camps, retreats, festivals, rallies, concerts, banquets etc.

Not enough FReepers in northern Wisconsin.

I'm in North Central Wisconsin. Where are you? Maybe we can work something out.

Diana, would you ping the WI list?

This is the way the Obots got started...Paulbots too for that matter. If we want to battle the socialists we're going to have to come together, and the Republican party, as it is now, especially as it is now in PA, is pretty much worthless.

I always thought it should have been done years ago and in fact understood it to be the plan when I first got on FR. What happened?

I believe you are correct. In the salad days of not just FR but the net as well there was a LOT of enthusiasm.

Remember the early FReeps? Demonstrating against x42? Ellian Gonzalas?

I've ALWAYS maintained that the Ride of Ted Tanner and Thunder during the impeachment was a benchmark. People used the net to follow and support the ride. The final gallop into DC was even netcast in a primitive way.

That event, along with many others of course, showed the power of us being able to link and communicate. Now we take it for granted. We've become lazy.

Now we have to get out and DO things again, Demonstrate, run for office or find and actively support candidates we want. Of course you and Don know what that sometimes entails...sigh.

mockingbyrd, we have an active WA state chapter ~ some years more active than others. Most of the members are in the Puget Sound, but not all.

There has never been an easier time to introduce friends, friends of our teenage kids, and social acquantances to Free Republic. There's a friend of mine that's been listening to Seattle news outlets for years, and it had got to the point where he uses me for a factcheck on national news, as I usually have more pieces to the story.

I finally sat him down for a couple hours one night and went through a couple dozen different topics, many with multiple sources that added to the complete picture, and ALL with links to those sources. He liked the verifiable multiple source aspect, and he commented that "the more sources, the more credibility".

Then I showed him what I've been telling him for years, how an AP story by some unknown stringer in the middle east will write his version of an event, and the next morning almost every news outlet in the country will be running the identical story by the same previously unheard of Arab stringer, often with a political keyword or phrase tossed in the mix.

We looked for any other sources to back up the event - nothing. I also showed him a heck of a lot of stuff that should be in the news, such as anything positive out of our military endeavors, especially considering all the military bases in our state ~ zippo.

I would be happy to help with a group in MS or TN. Since I’m close to the state line... I haven’t met a lot of MS people on this board, yet.

Ping!

We should have an “official Minnesota meeting” with actions at O’Gara’s right after the Tax Cut Rally on the State Capitol April 15th (or sooner for a “SHOWING”! Thanks for mentioning you met there before.

If possible, I would like to leave the per-meeting or rally with contact info, actions, someone to write a report (I can), how we’re prepared, what we need to do, etc.

Thanks!

Heh, I thought I got up early.

Excellent idea. I’ll get back to you later after I get the kiddo ready for school and take care of some things. I think a big part of this will be motivating people to come to the meetup through the MN FR board. As I said, we had around 50 people at our Minnehaha Falls get-together a few years ago. A picnic outside on a beautiful day never hurts, but O’Gara’s has a good beer list. LOL!

This is an excellent idea, one that is much-needed if we are to reclaim our country and keep it from being a socialist mess.

HOWEVER, I am seriously concerned that, with all the free-thinking on Free Republic, and with all the one-issue FReepers, that we will not be able to unite enough to become effective. Look at all those who got mad and stayed home the past two national elections — and look at what we have in Washington as a result.

I strongly suggest a pinned thread where we discuss and define the few MAJOR conservative principles that unite us and that we are ALL willing to fight for, so that when we do begin to organize on the local level we already have ourselves focused on the task ahead and don’t waste time arguing for our pet issues.

The time for that is over. We must unite or we’ll be steamrolled.

As a starter, those interested might review the communist’s objectives (particularly #15 and above), as read into the congressional record in 1963

It seems to me that most of the 45 items on that list have been accomplished now and accepted as normal by most Americans. Accomplished not by Russian style communism, but by American style liberalism/socialism/communism all wrapped up in four words, the liberal Democrat Party.

The only major item I see missing from the list is prohibition of privately owned firearms. And with Obama and a Democrat Congress in almost total control of the government for at least the next 2 years, that missing item is guaranteed to be added to their "to do" list and given a higher priority than ever before.
