I need some positive reasons why not to plan for a SHTF scenario.
Posted on 11/16/2008 3:15:11 PM PST by rfmad
I am seriously thinking of taking to steps to go to a survivalist approach planning to survuve total chaos and financial and institutional break down. Some one please help me see why this is not going to happen. Thanks

Im a bit surprised that hasnt been mentioned before.Homeopathic Psychology deals with the psychological state that created the illness in the first place. Once the mind is cleared of all the past "sins" or bad memories that have been buried (once these are released from the subconscious mind and brought out through the conscience mind), the body can rebuild itself.
All those bad memories are like poison to the nervous system. Get rid of the poison, and the natural healing power of the human body will do it's work.
It's like holding on to a really bad secret and finally being able to tell someone. The bad secret will wear you down, but releasing it will bring a sense of peace. Imagine this, and you'll understand how holding in things that aren't needed anymore or things that aren't important anymore can cause a lot of psychical problems.

Squantos and I have never met face to face but I seriously doubt that you would be cranky. Tuckered out from head to toe, fully satisfied and then some is a much more likely scenario.

I told him to reply NO to the first 9 and explain the “ feel the need” one as best he could ( working alone at night, having to move expensive government parts between plants and carrying large sums of cash).
The last one only happens on the way to gun shows. ;)

Hubby and I are giving each other handguns for our birthdays which are 2 weeks apart. And ammo and Pepper Spray is on my Christmas wish list. What a wierd time we’re in.

OK then. I'm sold. I'd be tuckered out and toughened up and tranquilled? I'd like to book a week, please.
I'll pack my toothbrush that I made out of a fibered twig whilst in the South African bush, (seriously,) my winter beaverskin jammies, my crank-flashlight, and my top three favorite firearms. Oh, and my safety-knife. :-)

You should have told him to put that he "feels the need" to "dispense vigilante justice" from time to time. That would have made their heads explode. LOL. And LOL on the "large sums of cash to the gun shows." ;-)
I'm going to hit the hay I think. Good night, AFM. Nice talking to you and everyone tonight. I appreciate it.

The average age of the worlds greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:
From Alexander Tyler...
“From bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage.”
Guess where we are...

Woobies are what we lovingly refer to the poncho liners that the army uses. If you have an Army Surplus store near you, go check them out. You would never believe that something so thin could keep you so warm.
Btw, I love your screen name. She has been a hero of mine since I read McCulough's John Adams. Heck, I even started keeping birds!

Next Friday afternoon go out back, turn off your gas , electric and water. Dont drive your car. Now just exist all weekend long as you make a list. Your needs may differ due location, weather, available resources etc ........ Think about all you do every day and what you can do without. Consider your security. Hygiene. Nourishment. Water. Heat or cooling. Sewage. Transportation. Funds. Supplies on hand. Laundry. Lighting. Medical needs and first aid supplies. Think when you work as no 911 exists. You have to be a safety nazi because cutting wood with an ax is very unsafe if you do not do it all the time . Thus consider a sierra saw or bow saw versus an ax etc . Think like this for every task. Like help and aid may be a thousand miles away and any mistake you make could cost you your life from loss of blood or mere infection. Great idea, but I'd have a mutiny on my hands if I tried that. I have to make preps in a low key way.

Thanks! The handful of us Republicans still left in this state are recovering from our losses...the State Government is now totally in control (Assembly & Senate) of the ‘Rats. :(
I actually DO have a guy that I trade cheese with, for baked goods and fresh eggs.
Always have an ace up your sleeve, I say! :)

I don’t believe that President Bush being in the White House caused the attacks on 9/11.
However, if you’re saying that the next Republican President will have to clean up after Democrat Obama, as he did after Carter, Clinton, etc. then I agree.

Using Squantos’ method is the only way that you will learn exactly what you need. Sweet talk your way into it with the promise of a weekend on the town for the girls.

Some more things that will also happen is no radio, tv, cable, satellite, phones, cell phones, internet, email, etc... how will you know the good guys from the bad guys?
How will communication take place to know the obummer thugs will be roaming the neighborhoods?
Total blackout and they will have their way with the sheep.
You can stay at your home, but all it takes is a molitov cocktail and you are burned out and shot down like a dog.
Remember Waco?
Get prepared.

Hey, anyone have an opinion on "emergency food kits"?
Costco actually has a coupon for members this month.

I don't think it has anything to do with Obama and everything to do with the economy. Even the potential of recession/depression should cause pause and a little preemptive preparation imho. The global environment out there isn't very conducive to trade.
Moderation is key. Don't buy what your family wouldn't eat and you cannot go wrong. You also might save $’s in a future tight spot.

Although I am no Constitutional lawyer, from what I have read, each State's Sec. of State “should” but can be compelled to certify the eligibility of the Pres. Elect prior to submitting Electoral Votes. I am believing Electoral College is in late Dec. or by mid Jan.
If no one's suit prevails to force this before inauguration, I also still believe that klintons may drop this bomb, maybe even after inauguration. There is just too much “clinton” in this new bunch with nobama. Something smells!
