I need some positive reasons why not to plan for a SHTF scenario.
Posted on 11/16/2008 3:15:11 PM PST by rfmad
I am seriously thinking of taking to steps to go to a survivalist approach planning to survuve total chaos and financial and institutional break down. Some one please help me see why this is not going to happen. Thanks

I, for one, cannot give you any, let alone good reason as to why you should’t

Nothing wrong with planning for the worst. If things turn out OK you’re good, if they don’t you’re prepared. No loss.

I think everyone should already have such a plan in place regardless of who’s in office because you never know when natural disaster, severe economic downturn, terrorist attacks, or whatever might strike and leave the infrastructure in chaos. Start planning ahead and store up extra non perishable food and bottled water and water purifying equipment, over the counter medicine, ammunition, and other survival necessities gradually. Go visit a Gander Mountain or other such sporting goods store, they usually have some real good stuff for survival situations.

Some one please help me see why this is not going to happen. Nope, sorry but I dcn't think of a single "Positive" reason not to prepare. Lots of negatives if you don't but no positives.

I thought this thread might be a joke but apparently FR does have its share of conspiracy theorists/survivalists. Why would anyone think that the election of Barack Obama would lead to a complete breakdown of social order? I realize that his election is a bad thing but it isn’t so bad that we should all start running to hills.
