Coming off a sweep in the Potomac Primaries, John McCains campaign has a message for Mike Huckabee: Its over.
The campaign released a memo after McCain won Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia Tuesday night saying the victories make it mathematically impossible for Governor Huckabee to secure the Republican nomination for president.

"It's over." Little Juan should remember that phrase come November...
“Though McCains campaign claimed there were only 774 left to be allocated, Associated Press tallies said there were 994 remaining.”
Yeah, over for the Republicans.
No it is not over. Once again McCain thinks he can cheat some people out of their rights. This time it is voting rights. Just hold on McCain, it is still a republic and the voters haven’t given you a total win yet. They might, but ignoring the fact that some states haven’t even voted yet just exposes your own disregard for our republic and the individual rights of the people.
FR poll from a year ago....
According to a posted article entitled McCain Starts Planning for 2008 Run Senator John McCain is considered the front-runner for the 2008 Republican presidential nomination. Would you be for or against McCain?
against 92.4% 3,058
for 7.6% 252
100.0% 3,310
Bunk! What about the GOP in Texas? Huh? This is not about party strategists. This is about representative government. There will be plenty of time to push McCain after voters have actually given him a win. Until then it is the right of the people to decide whether they want a brokered convention or a cake-walk for McCain. Let the voters decide, not the strategists.
What’s over? The Washington State Primary? The Republican primary process? The Republican Party? Conservatism?
It’s kind of funny. When this thing started and I first heard about Huckabee, I thought he sounded like a good “conservative-like” candidate that might be a “lesser of several evils”. This is normal for most elections.
However, the more I learned the less I liked his stance on things. And if you ignore his “baptist” roots and even his name and just see him as “candidate x” and then look at his record, there is really no way I could vote for him.
Meanwhile, he has also proven a fair lack of character in the way he is handling this race.
The way he’s handling this race has given me a lot more respect for him. I liked him, but I didn’t think he was tough enough. The fact that he has hung in there, despite not only the normal viciousness, but things that look suspiciously like vote fraud (WA), has made me think he might be a lot tougher than I thought, and might actually make a good president.
Reality check:
It actually IS over.
Huckabee certainly has a right to continue running. And I don’t think he’s wrong to do so if that’s what he wants to do.
But in point of fact, it IS over.
How is it a lack of character to let voters vote? They don't have to vote for him. He is just there giving voters an option. Until McCain has actually won over half the delegates, he is not yet the nominee the Republican people have chosen. Yes, I said the Republican PEOPLE -- those voters that get walked on and ignorned by the strategists who think they control the whole thing. They don't. This is REPRESENTATIVE government and the people are not finished voting yet.
Huck should do well in Texas, Ohio, North Carolina. Go Mike!
Huckabee knows and has known that he will not reach the 1,191 delegates needed. He has stated his goal is to keep McCain from getting the desired number and have the nominee chosen at convention. If it ends up being McCain, so be it. But if there is a chance for Romney or someone else to stop McCain I would like to see that!
I went from Hunter to Thompson to Romney. And I do favor Huckabee over McCain. I will still vote for the Republican nominee in November, no matter who it is.
What's the deal with a "brokered" convention? McCain will still get the nod for a run for POTUS! Huck will get the job at FEMA or something. He is going to get that job now so what's the deal with "brokered"?
The Grand Old Politburo has spoken comrades.
