“Kidnapped newsman free in Somalia”
ARTICLE SNIPPET: “A French journalist who was abducted by gunmen in Somalia’s breakaway state of Puntland more than a week ago has been freed, according to officials.
Gwen Le Gouil was kidnapped within 24 hours of his arrival in Bossasso to research a story on human trafficking.
The cameraman was in good health and no ransom had been paid for his release, police said.
Government officials and influential clan elders in the region had been negotiating Mr Le Gouil’s release.
Puntland government officials and elders said last week that the abductors had asked for a ransom of $70,000 (£35,000).”

“Tourists shot dead in Mauritania”
ARTICLE SNIPPET: “Four members of the same French family have been shot dead while on holiday in Mauritania, police say.
At least two children were among the dead, the French embassy in Mauritania told the AFP news agency.
The four were killed during a robbery, the police chief of the nearby town of Aleg told AP news agency.
A fifth person - said to be the father of the family - was seriously injured in the attack, about 250km (160 miles) east of the capital, Nouakchott.
The wounded man was receiving treatment in hospital in Aleg but would be transferred immediately to Nouakchott, the French embassy official added.
French President Nicolas Sarkozy said details of the incident were not yet clear.
“It’s still too early to say exactly what the reasons were for this attack which I can’t describe because we don’t know the motivation or even really how it occurred,” he said during a visit to a Paris hospital.
“As things stand, I can only confirm this sad news and offer my condolences.””

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “Hate preacher Omar Bakri, who is barred from Britain, is calling on Brits to boycott Christmas.
Using the internet to post a rant against the festive season, Bakri claims Christmas should be “completely forbidden”.
In another chilling post the radical cleric said Christmas Day would be the perfect day to launch a terror attack on the UK.”

Manila, Philippines - The Australian government warned that terrorists may attack during the celebration of Christmas and New Year in the Philippines. The Philippine National Police (PNP), however, said security agencies have no information of a specific threat.
"It is a caution, a warning, nothing specific, perhaps the Australians have information (which) we know they will share with us," said PNP Director General Avelino Razon, Jr. "We are verifying Australia's warning, but so far we have not detected any specific terror threat," Razon added.
As is customary during the holidays, the entire 125,000 men and women of the PNP are on "heightened alert." Australia's Embassy in Manila issued a travel advisory recently. It warned its citizens to "steer clear of places frequented by foreigners" and strongly advised against travel in the Mindanao region "where al-Qaeda-linked militants are active."
"Credible information indicates terrorists may be in the advanced stages of planning attacks. Attacks may be imminent and could occur at any time, anywhere in Mindanao," the advisory said.

Turkish Police Stop Would-Be Bomber in Istanbul
Monday, December 24, 2007
ISTANBUL, Turkey Turkish police thwarted a bomb attack in Istanbul on Monday, arresting a 25-year-old man with explosives in his backpack outside a subway station, the city's governor said. The man was carrying more than 7 pounds of A-4 plastic explosives when he was arrested in the Sisli district, one of the most crowded areas of the city, Turkish news agencies reported.
Though Governor Muammer Guler said the man was surely preparing for a bomb attack but said police were not yet able to find out what his target had been. Guler said police launched a raid on an apartment believed to be used as a safe house and seized more explosives and various mechanisms that could set off a bomb. Another man at the apartment was arrested after a chase, Guler said, and was suspected of membership in an unspecified terrorist organization.
Militant Kurdish, leftist and Islamic groups have carried out bombings in big cities and in resort towns in the past. In May, a 28-year-old once convicted of membership in a militant leftist group blew himself up in Turkey's capital, killing six people and wounding dozens.
Moscow The force of the explosive device found in a car parked near a school in the settlement of Ordzhonikidzevskaya in Russias southern republic of Ingushetia, was equivalent to about one kilogram of TNT, sources from republican law enforcement agencies told Tass on Monday.
It consisted of about ten kilograms of a mixture of aluminium powder, ammonium nitrate and the detonator. All the ingredients were in a plastic bucket. The suspicious vehicle, VAZ-21010, was detected at about 10 pm, on Sunday, Moscow time. It had the marker lights on, and there was no driver inside. A powerful explosive device was found there. The bomb was defused. Police search for masterminds of the terrorist act.

Bomb blast injures undetermined people in southern Philippines
Dec 24, 2007
Cotabato City, Philippines - A homemade bomb exploded in a commercial district in a southern Philippine city on Christmas Eve Monday, hurting an undetermined number of people, police said. The blast occurred just after lunch near a crowded plaza and a fast-food chain in the commercial district of Cotabato City, 960 kilometres south of Manila.
Superintendent Willie Dangane, city police chief, said investigators were still looking into the type of explosives used and possible suspects in the attack. The explosion occurred as police went on alert against terrorist attacks as the predominantly Catholic Philippines prepared for Christmas, a major holiday in the country.

“Ministers to Relax Criteria For Release of Terrorist Murderers”
by Hana Levi Julian
ARTILE SNIPPET: “(IsraelNN.com) Ministers met Monday morning to broaden the range of terrorists Israel may release in an effort to include arch-terrorist Marwan Barghouti. To do so they are considering narrowing the definition of the term “blood on their hands,” to no longer include the one who gave the order.”
ARTICLE SNIPPET: “Committee head and Kadima Knesset Member Tzachi HaNegbi told Arutz 7’s Israel National Radio flatly that he opposed relaxing the definition of what constitutes “blood on the hands” of terrorists. “I object to the release of murderers. A murderer is a murderer regardless of legal definitions. I hope there will be no relaxation of the term ‘murderer.’ Anyone who murdered Jews belongs under lock and key. There can be concession or flexibility in this matter.”
Likud Knesset Member Yuval Steinitz, a member of the committee, also expressed outrage in an interview with Voice of Israel government radio after the meeting. “According to the government’s new formulae, a killer is no longer a killer and the terrorist Palestinian Authority is a peace partner,” he said.”
Merry Christmas Cindy.
It wouldn't be difficult for a repeat of what happened when the Rashneesh poisoned salad bars in The Dalles a few years back:
From Oregon Secretary of State Speech given in 2005
Oregon may be the only state to change its election laws because of a cult. We used to have election day voter registration here. Then the Baghwan Shree Rashneesh brought in thousands of cult followers, registered them to vote on the day of election, and took over the town of Antelope. The Baghwan then poisoned the salad bar. Only in Oregon. In most places you'd have to poison the beer, but in Oregon you go for the salad bar.

(1)"Hillsborough County authorities say several area businesses exploited a loophole that allowed undocumented immigrants to obtain valid vehicle registrations." "The businesses apparently instructed immigrants on how to obtain fake IDs and then submitted the documents to county officials, who issued registrations. The sheriff says there is no way to know how many people obtained fraudulent documents."
(2)"Three illegal immigrants arrested Dec. 5 after a manhunt involving Cochise County deputies and U.S. Border Patrol agents were indicted Thursday in connection to multiple home invasions.
Between the three Mexican nationals, they are charged with more than 40 counts, including kidnapping, first-degree armed burglary and theft, Cochise County Attorney Ed Rheinheimer said Friday.
The men were served with the indictment on Friday.
After their arrest, bond was inappropriately set at $15,000 apiece in Justice of the Peace District 4 Court, Rheinheimer said.
When county prosecutors read of the men's bonds on Dec. 8, a call was placed to the court to get the mistake corrected, Rheinheimer said.
