...Mr. Romney promised that evangelicals could listen to all eight of his future State of the Union addresses and never get a clue that his Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints teaches the following: God is not eternal, but was once a man on another planet God is married to his goddess wife and has spirit children Jesus is the spirit brother of Lucifer and all humans are their siblings The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are three separate gods The Father and the Son each have separate, physical bodies The book of Mormon is more accurate than the Bible The gospel was lost until Mormon founder Joseph Smith restored it and there is no salvation outside of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints It is impossible to be saved by Gods grace alone...

I hope not. He is a RINO
Bump for Scott Ott.
I see Mitt skipped the part of Mormon doctrine that their scriptures came from the angel Maroni and the golden salamander. “Kooky” doesn’t even begin to cover Mormon doctrine.
Scrappleface does always entertain.
Sometimes their satire is a little too acurate.
I normally enjoy Hugh Hewitt’s show, but am I the only one who is sick of listening to him gloss over and pimp Mitt Romney? It’s getting very tiresome. There are other topics to discuss in the world.
I’m also tired of Sean Hannity being upset, saying he can’t understand why people have an attitude about Mormons (it’s their theology, Sean, not the misguided people). This Scrappleface reminds me of the South Park Scientology episode showing their true beliefs with the statement about this is what Scientologists really believe at the bottom of the screen.
I don’t like Mormonism, but I like Mitt. He is not running for a religious position, but for president of a secular government. Kooky or not, mormons DO tend to be moral people. I hate the door knockers, but Mitt won’t be doing that as President.
You obviously have never read about one of the key problems that go on with the Mormon Church - the secret circle of edlers that DO constrict, force and restrain others once you achieve a postion of authority.
The kooky parts of Mormon teaching are less worrisome than the stuff they teach to those in secret as they attain higher office within the church. There are many good books on this subject, written by ex Mormons themselves.
Just remember in God’s eyes we are all this children.
Perhaps I am misunderstanding something you are saying, or some anti-LDS article you read is skewed, but my understanding (and this is strictly terminology, no offense meant to anyone) is that the term ‘Elders’ is used to mean the young men of the Church - hardly a group that could constrict, force, restrain others, as you have read/written.
My son converted to LDS, and I have seen the very positive side to this religion and those who practice it.
WHen we attend their Church, the Elders are young men who distribute the bread and water for communion - I believe they may be visiting missionary kids rather than local church members, not positive about that, but they ARE young men and not in a position of power.
Perhaps it is the terminology that is in question.
From what I have seen of Mormons, and that is quite a lot these past 10 years, is they are good, hard-working folks who provide a support group to others of their faith who are new to the community - and who welcome their coffee-and-alcohol drinking parents with open arms.
You might be surprised if you knew how many people you deal with in your daily life who are LDS members - airline pilots (who will never show up drunk!), teachers, doctors, actors, etc.
All religions have to start somewhere - this one happened to start right here in the USA.
I think Mitt would make a fine President and if he is the Gop nominee, I would not hesitate to vote for him. And no, I am not interested in coverting.
That's quite the conspiracy theory. Any adult male who is worthy (not drinkin' or adulterin') can become an Elder.
I don’t think Mitt Romney is a kook either and he seems to be a decent man. He was a good govenor of Massachussetts and has demonstrated good leadership skills in his leadership of that state and as the Chairman of the Salt Lake City Olympic games. I flew with him on a flight to DC in coach when he and his wife were coming in for Reagan’s funeral. (I commend him for his frugality flying on the public dollar)
However, Mormonism is an aberrant cult and deviates greatly from Orthodox Christianity. The Bible tells us to test the Spirits carefully.
1John 4
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God; for many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3and every spirit that does not confess Jesus* is not from God.
Credible Christian apologetics ,the Catholic Church, and orthodox Protestants all which have a strong foundation in Orthodoxy know the difference. John Ankerberg has done a good job on this:

But that does not make it true.

This is going to be fun ^_^ I am an ex Mormon, from a position of authority, now an atheist and you are a liar. Or a delusional idiot? Take your pick.
The kooky parts of Mormon teaching are less worrisome than the stuff they teach to those in secret as they attain higher office within the church. There are many good books on this subject, written by ex Mormons themselves.
Oooh those secretive, sneaky Mormons. Tin foil hat a little loose this morning txzman? If you knew anything at all about Mormons you would know that they are too busy to have a secret cabal.
I will let you in on the dirty little secret about Mormons. They are boring, family, work, and church, in that order, that's it. That's all they have time for. If by some miracle they have any spare time, they eat or sleep. If you want to be bored to death, go to a meeting, or better yet steal a Temple recommend and go to the Temple, then you will face true boredom, the kind of boredom that would drive Buddhist monks insane.
I am not kidding.
LOL, that was my experience as a child in Church. My older brother and I out of sheer boredom got into our famous (to us anyway) paperclip fight. I had it and was bending it. I got tired of it and was about to throw it. Then he wanted it and I turned into Gollum with the Ring of Power, "my paperclip". We ended up arguing and wrestling over it in the pews until my Mom intervened. When her stern looks didn't work she turned to the wrath of a Just God and pinched us both hard. Man those nails hurt.
Now I get to bring my kids so they can suffer through it too ;-)
HUH??? If what Joseph Smith claimed actually did happen then a large chunk of what Christians believed for the last 2000 years is flat out false! The Mormon concept of God is so foreign to Christianity that the Catholic Church will not recognize Mormon baptisms and insists that all converts from Mormonism must be baptized within the Church. At the root of Mormon teachings are some very anti-Catholic assumptions about the corruption of Christianity.
If you are Catholic then your faith must tell you that Joseph Smiths claims are false. You can vote for the man based on what you think of his politics, but just because he prays does not make him a leader to follow... Osama bin Ladin gets on his knees to pray 5 times a day.
Interesting conundrums.
Certainly the cult aspect is important. Therefore what, I don’t know.
Lot rather see a moral Romney than a lot of other traitorous globalist jerks in office.
Pulling for Fred Thompson or Dunken Hunter, myself.
LDS folks have had plans in place to take over the government for decades if they felt the Democracy was about to fall.
Rather them than the globalists but it will is and will be the globalists for a time, that’s Scripturally clear. And what role would they play in that—interesting questions.
They certainly preach “another Gospel.”
Plenty truth to what you say.
But you don’t seem to be . . . 100% thoroughly informed about your former LDS org and cohorts.
