I don’t think Mitt Romney is a kook either and he seems to be a decent man. He was a good govenor of Massachussetts and has demonstrated good leadership skills in his leadership of that state and as the Chairman of the Salt Lake City Olympic games. I flew with him on a flight to DC in coach when he and his wife were coming in for Reagan’s funeral. (I commend him for his frugality flying on the public dollar)
However, Mormonism is an aberrant cult and deviates greatly from Orthodox Christianity. The Bible tells us to test the Spirits carefully.
1John 4
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God; for many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3and every spirit that does not confess Jesus* is not from God.
Credible Christian apologetics ,the Catholic Church, and orthodox Protestants all which have a strong foundation in Orthodoxy know the difference. John Ankerberg has done a good job on this:

Interesting conundrums.
Certainly the cult aspect is important. Therefore what, I don’t know.
Lot rather see a moral Romney than a lot of other traitorous globalist jerks in office.
Pulling for Fred Thompson or Dunken Hunter, myself.
LDS folks have had plans in place to take over the government for decades if they felt the Democracy was about to fall.
Rather them than the globalists but it will is and will be the globalists for a time, that’s Scripturally clear. And what role would they play in that—interesting questions.
They certainly preach “another Gospel.”
