I agree, that oil factors into the geopolitical debate.

This is part of the reason why the time is not yet right to act, and to do the only possible thing that could slow or stop this madness, but our morality and Constitution are our biggest obstacle to winning the war on terror.

And they are well aware of this fact.

That's beyond my pay scale. :-)

Let's just kill all of those openly fighting us, no matter where they may be and get a better spying facility, out of which we needs must eject the damned Clinton holdovers/shadow government.

The Democrats' base in those previous generations was not the base that tossed a relative softy like Lieberman on the trash heap. If a Democrat wins next time, they will owe their soul to a base that will not tolerate American use of force for anything short of an invasion of the homeland or unless it is directed against a rightwing European (ala Clinton's farce in Serbia). These are people who think the song "Imagine" is the most sound basis for foreign policy. These aren't your grandfather's Democrats who will be running...or voting...in '08.

Actually, short of occupying the entire country, and taking on Syria, there was not much more to do.

The Hezbo's had moved North of the river and were launching from there. They were organizing skirmishes in the south, but had moved command and control to the North.

I think their leader was in the Iranian Embassy under protection and the Israeli's could not get to him either.

Their left wing base is not as powerful in the party as you might think.

Once elected, the party will ignore them again. LOL.....

They are more incensed at Bush then anything else. It it what drives them.

Once Bush is out, it all goes away. If they win the presidency, it all ends like it never was.

Most democrats are not that crazy. But right now, they need every vote.

So do we......

I understand what you said and why. I really feel the same way, but reality seems to be taking away any of the possible good outcomes that I had once hoped possible using standard military responses and modern ethics.

Our Constitution and our way of life is on the chopping block, or better said, "WILL BE". At some point, a future president will have to make a very difficult decision, but at the time he or she makes it, it will be with the total blessings of the public.

This is something completely new, so the answers aren't "handy", nor easily forthcoming. And that is one reason why people who condemn the president for not doing enough or doing too much, are in the wrong and since they don't have anything better to offer, they should just keep quiet and we should all pull together. Sadly, the way things are now, I don't see that happening.

What the future holds, none of us can accurately predict. We'll just have to see what comes along.

Yeah.......That's true enough.

I am a believer in the Chaos theory. The future is difficult, is not impossible to predict, but the more you know about the variables, the closer that prediction will be.

Same as the weather.

The further out in time you go, the prediction gets much harder and more iffy.

Exactly so!

Yet, as with the weather, there ARE constants, that can and must be tracked.

Bush took it as far as he could, without totally upsetting the entire apple cart of international relations, and will take heat for some time to come, both domestically and internationally. Condi took a lot of hits as well.

Good points. The world was just shown that Bush is not always a cowboy. When warranted he can sue for peace. This theoretically could help later when Bush comes to the nation and says that peace with Iran was just not possible. Besides, if you take away Syrian and Iranian support, Hezbollha may just become local street thugs.

I can see it. "Missiles launched by Hezbollah fall short and kill a civilian, lebanese puppy. Israel blamed for not being north enough".

I agree with your last sentence entirely. Your opinion of how things went down are wrong. All evidence over many years points to this. You offer NO proof, but demanded others on this thread disprove your "opinion". Without "proof" of your accusations, you only offer opinion.

My opinion is that HISTORY will show us what was really going on behind the scenes... This war is being waged in many new ways, dealing with many new problems. I think I know what is going on here, and I think that the hezzbutthollas are playing right into the trap. I pray that I am correct, and pray for US and Israel's VICTORY over islam!

So Israel wasn't killing terrorists and the deal Bush brokered didn't make them stop killing terrorists?

Isreal had pretty much destroyed any way for reinforcements to get in. They could easily have gone after Beirut next. If the government is not going to go after the terrorists in their midst, that government should be toppled as a threat.

The last time Syria screwed with Israel, they lost in 6 days.

As long as Hezbollah is allowed to operate (and Mecca isn't glowing), there will never be peace.
