Right after Jesus was crucified and ascended, people claimed that it was THE END TIMES and that HE would come back right away. HE didn't.

A lot of the talk about celibacy, in the NT, is because they expected that Jesus was retuning, ASAP, and the the times would be terrible for pregnant women and babies and small children.

Since then, with every war, with every epidemic ( the Black Death was but one ) with every bad growing season, with every hurricane, earthquake, people have stated, as fact, THESE ARE THE END TIMES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and it wasn't.

If you take the Bible seriously, GOD has said, HIMSELF< that no man shall shall know, until it happens and it hasn't happened.............................yet. HE even tells us to NOT claim that we know when it will happen.

Most religions, if not all, seem to cling to prophesy arguments and all the various derivatives that the discussion entails.

It is prophesy that differentiates Sunni from Shia, Jew from Christian, and Catholic from Protestant.

It's one of the reasons I shy away from any organized religion. I want to stay sane....:-)

I don't believe in the prophesies, but I can say that a long war has begun that cannot be won in the modern meaning of the military win. It will be a long war of attrition and we are only seeing the beginning.

It cannot end until one side has been erased from the face of the planet.

I believed until recently that some sort of balance could be attained, but after what happened in Lebanon and the rhetoric it spawned, I no longer believe there is any hope of avoiding what will eventually become a planet wide low intensity conflict that pits military might against a enemy that cannot be overcome by normal accepted military standards of warfare. Our morality will inhibit us from winning it and we will end up fighting in the streets as the social fabric breaks down.

The only way to survive will be walled cities and maximum security. Our Constitution cannot survive this sort of warfare.

Therefore, we must use all our weapons to obliterate them before our economy and social fabric succumbs to the constant terror threat that we will certainly face for as long as there are any of us left.

I don't believe it! Hezbollah breaking a ceasefire agreement, what's next Iran trying to get the bomb?
I can't tell you how disappointed I am in them....

because I'm not this is pretty much what I expected.

You really haven't been paying attention to any of the reasoned tactical analysis on this thread have you.

Sure. Bush went to the UN and brokered a deal that would allow the Hezboes to regroup and rearm.

Anyway, he brokered a deal on the world statge; everyone signed off; gave the Hezzies plenty of rope.

Instead of just letting Israel wipe them off the face of the earth to begin with?

Are you seriously telling us you think W thought the Hezzies, Syria and Iran would play by the rules?

I think in his gut Bush actually believes that Islam is a religion of peace and that they can be trusted.

Most of us know better and would NEVER give our enemies in the WOT time to regroup and refocus.

I didn't mean that in a bad way.

I know. :)

They gave them a chance though and Hezbollah blew it.

Why risk it though? I can understand how a lot of people consider this to be good strategery but I cannot fathom why one would risk abandoning our only friend in the region who has a vested interest in the absolute destruction of the terrorists.

No, you don't. You think, you whine, and you generally stomp about like a keyboard kommando and have little to say that has actual merit.

Are you even reading the posts?
