DEERFIELD TWP. Sheriff's deputies asked the owner who lit up his house with 25,000 Christmas lights synched to music to turn off the display after a traffic accident Tuesday night.
Deerfield Twp. resident Carson Williams agreed to shut down his holiday decorations indefinitely.
Williams told a Cincinnati television station that sheriff's deputies could not reach the traffic accident because of the traffic lined up in his neighborhood.
The display caught attention across the nation on network TV and on the Internet because the lights on the Williams house and filling their yard are synchronized by computer with music broadcast to car radios. There are three songs in the 12-minute display: Frosty the Snowman by the Jackson 5; God Bless the USA by Lee Greenwood and Wizards of Winter by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
Williams turned his display on the week of Thanksgiving and motorists have lined up between 6 and 10 p.m. ever since.
For the time being, the only place to view the Williams' display will be online.
"He told us if we start having traffic problems that he would shut the display down for a while," Warren County sheriff's Lt. Ed Petrey said Wednesday morning.
Two cars collided in a minor accident at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday on Simpson Creek Drive, which leads to Winding Creek Court, where the Williams live near Mason in southern Warren County. No one was injured.
Williams is an electrical engineer who said his family spent about $10,000 on the display. He had promised his neighbors they would shut it down if there were problems.
"If I get a single complaint I'll shut it down," Carson had said Monday night.
He could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
And don't miss the new Barney and Miss Beazley Christmas movie from the White House:

As always, a priceless gem.
Nobody prays for peace more than I do but generally those who use the peace symbol are leftist. Touting the symbol for defeat actually causes greater danger for my loved ones.
oh my!
and i wonder how much his electric bill is?
How many Christmas cards will you receive this year that say something along the lines of Peace on Earth and Goodwill Towards Men?
Will you conclude, based on that sentiment alone, that the sender of that wish is for "defeat"?
I would trust not.
Not at all. I honor Peace on Earth and Goodwill. The peace symbol that leftist use has become something other than wishes of peace. After having three years of taunts, middle fingers, and obscenities thrown in my face by people who use that symbol it has become something far different than a symbol for peace.
Holey sh!t.
THAT was simply great.
How come they are Christmas lights when the stuff hits the fan rather than holiday lights?.Are they predominantly Nativity Oriented, or just a bunch of twinklers?
I watched the video, and I've read that this is a live show, but I still think that for the video he used some stop-motion stuff. The still pictures they show do not show snowmen all over his yard (or trees, or whatever they are).
In the video he has these rows of white trees/snowmen marching around his yard, forward, back, to the left, and to the right. I think he had 5 of them and posed them -- look at the video, and you don't see any hint of 'turned-off' objects blocking the objects that are "behind" them.
There are a few other things that don't quite look live in the video, but that was the most obvious.
Still awesome though. Anybody have an opinion about the video?
To me, saying the display was "ruined" because of the use of the peace symbol without knowing the homeowner's mindset, given the time of year, is being very narrowminded and quite unfair.
I could see if it was the middle of June and there was an illuminated peace symbol on someone's home, but at Christmas?
Sorry but those folks have made my life miserable. Perhaps it was the leftist who spit on my son before he spent Christmas in Afghanistan that was a total turnoff for me. Who knows. I can tell you that it was a total repulsion as soon as I saw the symbol.
I replaced all my lights over the past 3 years with the lower-power versions, (went from .34 amps/100 lights to .2 amps/100 lights).
I consider my stuff tasteful. Here is the link to the sole picture I have on the web for my lights: My Web Page -- Picture is on right
I don't know how to make this picture appear here.
It is great. I wonder how may hours they spent on this.
Wow! I bet that would make our Maine bill go up way more than $100. Great work!
However, I'm not yet at the point that has me thinking the worst........until I know better, I'm still holding out hope for the best.
Sweet!
Good for you. Sorry about us narrow minded folks who have been shoved into avoiding people who use it.
