President to speak at 9am ...
I'm not worried in either case. The perception is important. Denying that is counterproductive, not a good thing.
That was the mayor of New Orleans.
I only relied on what was said. After the fact I now can check it out on the net and see that it was built to withstand 200 mph winds. However the Superdome is also 34 years old. Reports on the TV channels covering the storm as it passed expressed concern that the damage could have spread from the area that had peeled off.Since the hurricane decreased from a Category 5 to Category 4 I guess we will never know what may have happened. With regard to the 200mph thing I saw way too many unbelievable things in Andrew to consider this as flat out valid.
In any event I think it has been proven obvious that cramming 20000 people in there with nowhere to go was bad preparation. Dont you?
And what do you expect the President to do about it, when whatever he does will be distorted to fit the template of the left anyway?
Why don't you just let him do what is right, and support him, instead of your meaningless whining and criticizing??
He looks bad. I'm noting that he looks bad. Those that can't see that just can't see. It's not picking on him. I can guarantee you his handlers are reacting to the truth is what I said.
Just wondering why you are obsessed with it?
So vote for Hillary!
Looks like it.
LOL! Thanks for the laugh, I needed that...now if only I had my coffee...
There was a guy that called into O'Rielly's show last night ... he is with an Ambulance Company
He said he was very thankful to the military and every thing the have been doing to help
He also mentioned that he was told that many times when the choppers tried to fly in to help .. they were also being shot at
So you allow your perceptions to be manipulated by the leftist media, do you?
However, because of the Constitution, the states have to order the action from the Feds. Did the state of Louisiana (i.e. Gov. Blancho) get the ball rolling early enough? I think not. This is where the problem(s) began.
Is there some reason you are focusing on New orleans, practically the only one suffering this massive chaos, and not Alabama, MISS or other LA cities?
Isn't that the truth. Why is it not obvious that the local leadership in these other areas was far superior to that of NOLA?
Keep in mind this is a larger disaster than anything, short of nuclear attack, that human beings could inflict. This is NATURE, a mighty force greater than human capability.
That said, I do wonder why the city did not even have reserves of drinking water...
Your very first post, when you signed up on FR today, was that the President should have made a speech Monday night.
To me, that sounds like you are placing blame on the President.
Responsibilty begins at the local and state level. Nagin, Blanco and the like obviously had NO PLAN.
If you expect the President to micro-manage the disaster potential of every major city in the United States, well, go on dreaming.
Seems like by now you would have noticed that you are in the minority here in YOUR perception that he looks bad. Why can't you see that?
I don't know. A sane policy needs a sane citizenry. We don't see that in NO. While I can understand looting for food and water (and that's perfectly sane in this context), what I can't understand is the roving gangs of pirates raping, mugging, shooting at rescue helicopters & cops, etc.
It makes no sense. Truthfully, stealing a plasma tv and taking it back to your shack (which is either going to be destroyed by flooding or condemned) doesn't make any sense in any case.
Seems that our plans have to take this into account more than I would have anticipated.
This isn't a blame game. It's a performance game. The city, state, and Feds didn't perform. Too many Freepers seem unwilling to cope with that.
Every bad thing that happened to me in my life had a blessing in it, even though the blessing was seldom clear when the bad stuff was going down. The blessing in Katrina is that we now know we aren't ready. We need to change things.
Like I said, a multi-city 911 type strike looks like a much better bet for the bad guys than it did two weeks ago. A bodyblow of that magnitude clearly would kick our arse and lay us out (not permanently, but for a short spell).
Not good. Not good at all. And let me amend my original statement: this situation reflects a cascading failure on the local, state, and federal government, AND the citizenry.
Hi Hillary! ;-)
It isn't that Dubya's investment flopped; it's that it is just a monumental task to house, feed, clothe, and evacuate 1 million people at the best of times.
Add the looting, flooding, multiple chains of authority--with the first responders drowned, fled, seemingly drugged, or adding actively to the carnage--any you have NO.
Please explain then WHY Mississippi and Alabama, as well as Florida, didn't have hundreds of school buses flooded out--instead of having been used to get people to safety BEFORE the storm hit.
Please explain why the rampant looting, rapes, and worse; including rescue boats been commandeered, helicopters being shot at, and so on.
Recall the Mayor of NO helicoptered his family out BEFORE the storm hit; so he expected something bad. Not providing for his citizens (his stated job) is CRIMINAL.
