I suppose, while you've been busy blaming the President, you have also contributed some aid to the Katrina rescue and rebuilding efforts? Huh? So he can't have an opinion on the President unless he gives to the Red Cross?

I see you are here, fighting the good fight as always, but doesn't it wear you out to deal with so many clueless, gloom and doomers?

By Friday night, katrina had jumped from 75 mph to 105 mph and was taking dead aim at NO. That's 60 hours warning. And storms do not ever weaken over open, warm water.

Katrina actually did, albeit it was closer to the coast. Hey, as the saying goes "You are always fightint the last war"... in this case, you are always rescuing for the last storm. It is simply human nature, and at this point, the blame game is useless. Seriously, people are going to get so bogged down into the blame game, that the process of actually finding SOLUTIONS is going to be slowed down, and with this hurricane season, time is of the essence. I have some ideas in mind that I'd like to discuss, maybe another thread....

When the stories trickle out (no pun intended) we're going to have things to be ashamed of, but ALOT to be proud of, too. There are heroes in this mix, too, I think we've forgotten.

You're not telling me anything I didn't know. That being said, there is a strong perception he is out to lunch. His behavior has helped cultivate that perception, and not undermine it.

Holy cow! They just said the disaster area is 90,000 SQUARE MILES!! And the state of Idaho is 85!

That's incredible!

I get the strong impression that the momentum has changed in this and that the adults have decided to take charge -- led by the President.

Trying to do it the way it is 'supposed to be done' and working through the mayor and governor was just not getting results.

Yeah..........it wears me out. But I spend a lot of time in prayer.......

There are lots of people lurking who might take the doom and gloomers' attitudes and words to heart and be very discouraged.

Their hostile and negative words have to be countered, IMO. They are neither helpful, nor accurate.

the conspiracy guys will love this line: "Says it's as if the entire Gulf Coast was obliterated by some kind of weapon"

Well we all know that Bush refused to sign Kyoto so that he could unleash the new "hurricane bomb" on Louisiana and Mississippi in order to steal their oil for Halliburton...

Have you thought of volunteering in the disaster preparedness and reponse team in your area? Phone local law enforcement and they can direct you to the local volunteer network.

I'd like to have those numbers verified, but that's what I just heard on Fox.

Unbelieveable!

I've seen film of a man kneeling on a sheet of plywood leaning on a stteply pitched roof and forming a bridge into a window of the home next door, presumably 2nd or 3rd story. A man in the house was passing his 3 year old daughter across the bridge.

Heroes in action. We need to be sure to highlight these acts above the repulsive acts of human vermin and total incompetence of local officials.

The scope of the disaster is such that the plan failed to provide for it. This is like war. No plan survives first contact with the enemy. Then it is a matter of execution. Didn't help that the mayor and governor reacted slowly and ineffectively.

What does that have to do with anything? Why are you posting here when you could be headed down to Louisiana?

Oh - wait - you have no criticism of the president, therefore you're relieved of any obligation to help?

Yes, frustrating isn't it. President Bush comes through again. Underestimated as always. Eventually people will recognize that he couldn't just do whatever he wanted. The state/local government are getting off easy with all this media driven it's Bush's fault. Darn it, it's always Bush's fault. It's tiring.

Can the feds take control of a sovereign state? Bush has got to do something to bypass a state government whose official (can't remember which one) said on national news that it was understandable that people looted, they need water and food (words to that effect).
