A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Yes, FRiends, it's another Finest "Play Day"!
We should be visiting another state today, but the 'Finest Tour Bus' is in the shop for repairs (again!). So, we will be staying home and having a play day instead. For those of you who have your heart set on traveling, you are welcome to re-visit any or all of our Finest states below..... :-)
...the rest of us will stay here and
Being 8 Years Old Again
I am hereby officially tendering my resignation as an adult. I have decided I would like to accept the responsibilities of an 8 year-old again.
- I want to go to McDonald's and think that it's a four star restaurant.
- I want to sail sticks across a fresh mud puddle and make a sidewalk with rocks.
- I want to think M&Ms are better than money because you can eat them.
- I want to lie under a big oak tree and run a lemonade stand with my friends on a hot summer's day.
- I want to return to a time when life was simple. When all you knew were colors, multiplication tables, and nursery rhymes, but that didn't bother you, because you didn't know what you didn't know and you didn't care. All you knew was to be happy because you were blissfully unaware of all the things that should make you worried or upset.
- I want to think the world is fair. That everyone is honest and good.
- I want to believe that anything is possible.
- I want to be oblivious to the complexities of life and be overly excited by the little things again.
- I want to live simple again. I don't want my day to consist of computer crashes, mountains of paperwork, depressing news, how to survive more days in the month than there is money in the bank, doctor bills, gossip, illness, and loss of loved ones.
- I want to believe in the power of smiles, hugs, a kind word, truth, justice, peace, dreams, the imagination, mankind, and making angels in the snow.
So, here's my checkbook and my car-keys, my credit card bills and my 401K statements. I am officially resigning from adulthood. And if you want to discuss this further, you'll have to catch me first, 'cause...
"Tag! You're it!"
And have a wonderful Wednesday!

.....but since I joined FRee Republic 2 years ago I have destroyed.. totally beyond use...7 very good/expensive cooking pots. Oh, my goodness! I'd say you are probably right, it must be Jim's fault. If not his, then it would have to be John's. LOL
Ummmmm.......maybe you could move your computer into the kitchen? It might help with multi-tasking. ;-)

How do you do good friend"Pippin"thank you"snugs"
This is Jon Anderson/Vangelis
"I'LL FIND MY WAY HOME (Jon Anderson/Vangelis)"
"You ask me where to begin
Am I so lost in my sin
You ask me where did I fall
I'll say I can't tell you when
But if my spirit is lost
How will I find what is near
Don't question I'm not alone
Somehow I'll find my way home
My sun shall rise in the east
So shall my heart be at peace
And if you're asking me when
I'll say it starts at the end
You know your will to be free
Is matched with love secretly
And talk will alter your prayer
Somehow you'll find you are there.
Your friend is close by your side
And speaks in far ancient tongue
A seasons wish will come true
All seasons begin with you
One world we all come from
One world we melt into one
Just hold my hand and we're there
Somehow we're going somewhere
Somehow we're going somewhere
[interlude]
You ask me where to begin
Am I so lost in my sin
You ask me where did I fall
I'll say I can't tell you when
But if my spirit is strong
I know it can't be long
No questions I'm not alone
Somehow I'll find my way home
Somehow I'll find my way home
Somehow I'll find my way home
Somehow I'll find my way home"

Am I being selfish?yes, but it's okay to be selfish in cases like this. You want him to do what he feels he must do, but you know how much you will miss him and how much you will fear for his safety. You wouldn't be human if you didn't want him close and safe. Yep, selfish. I would be too. God bless you and your BIL.

88% Does that mean I'm a genius? Yes, that and that you followed the directions - which I didn't.
Anyone who knows me knows that one of my bad habits is that I tend to skim as I read. I deserved a big fat goose egg. :-(

well, I brought m & m's & ate them instead. I think I will eat your carmel corn also...
I collected a large group of bulbs a few days ago that washed down a several hundred foot embankment. I am guessing about 40 or so.. large & some with bulbetts.. I think they are jonquils.. Need to clean house but really want to do yard work instead. Inside I just gravitate to computer!!!

I love chocolate fondue Cafe Uno in London do a wonderful one. The Melting Pot does the entire meal as a fondue. I sure wish there was one closer to home. They are a chain, but the closest one to us is about 5 hours away in Sacramento.
Did I tell you, FRee, that I was so impressed with the The Melting Pot that I gave my son a gift certificate for dinner for two there on his birthday? Problem is, the closest Melting Pot to him is about three hours away and in order to get reservations he says he has to call about a week ahead....so he hasn't used it yet.
They just can't handle the demand and they are building them as fast as they can.

LOL, re: Melting Pot. I saw snugs' question, but missed the post where she picked it up. I was thinking, "America is the Melting Pot." I couldn't believe that she didn't know that. :)

Those of us old enough, remember having the Fondue dinner parties.. good wine with Beef fondue in oil (used tenderloin); vegetables in broth; shrimp/cut lobster in seasoned oil; homemade bread in herb/cheese fondue; strawberries, marshmallows etc in chocolate rum fondue... Everyone was so full & meals lasted so long & so much laughter. I now use my old fondue pot like a crock pot. I recall having six pots. we were on admirals staff in Panama & were the junior most officers on staff.. fun to try to keep up with those more senior with paid staff & much more $$$. But no kids, minimal expenses.. why not?
