I have been directed to read Hal Lindsey about the choice of Cardinal Ratzinger and future prophecy.
He appears to be a commentator, but I am getting a funky vibe.
Does anyone know anything about this guy and his prophecies?
I've always relied on Kreskin. |
The dude is a nut, he refers to the Catholic church as "the whore of Babylon" and that one of the future Popes would be the anti-christ. Plus he has been down right wrong about a lot of his predictions.
..educated at one of the finest seminaries in the world (Dallas Theological Seminary) which will always drag him back to center when he is tempted toward vain speculation.
As far as criticism about recognizing Israel's place in prophecy -- either you take the Bible literally or you don't -- I'll take it literally thank you.
Generally speaking -- at least Hal has caused millions to rethink the Bible as the source of truth -- it worked for me
Lindsey has never set a date. When was he wrong?
That's nothing. I once had dinner with Hal Linden. OK, not really, him and his family were sitting at the table next to mine at some restaurant in NYC.
Author of "The Late Great Planet Earth" and other less interesting stuff. Don't waste your time.
Hal's an alright teacher, but I'm more of a fan of his friend Chuck Missler. One's probably considered about as loopy as the other by their critics, but Chuck was one of the major influences that led me to take the Bible very, very seriously, and while I don't always agree with him by a longshot (nor do I always disagree), I'm very grateful to him for that.
Well, let's see...first I will put on my flame retardant suit....
Okay.
This is what the Bible says in Deut. 18:22:
"If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him."
We bought Lindsey's book in the 1970's called, "The Late Great Planet Earth". He stated that Christ would return in 1988...
None of the predictions came true! It was so bad he "revised" it later.
But, using the Biblical standard, he is a false prophet...he set dates that did not happen.
Disregard.
A book called the Late Great Planet Earth published in the 70's when Rapture was just finding a market.
He's another anti-Catholic.
Hal was way wrong on the Y2K "disaster" which never occured, however, he has been saying for 20 years that Islam would become a major threat to our country, and he was justified after 911. He's a good Christian, but he makes me overly worried sometimes.
Go back and read a few of his books....then you'll see how off he is....scripturally speaking....you'll know a prophet by the end results...if what he says comes to pass....well not one of his so called prophecy interpretations has come to pass...
Lindsey is a quack. Maybe he's saved, but I wouldn't follow a quack.
I ain't saying yes.
I ain't saying no.

Hal Lindsey is just plain terrific. I think he's great.

I've been reading many of these posts. I have read some of Hal's stuff and he has never set a date or anything like that. He is not a prophet either. He simply writes about prophetic things and how he views them. While I don't agree with some of his stuff, some of his early stuff was extremely prescient. Anyone on here who has posted that he has picked dates, times and the such, I'd like them to cite it on here because I have NEVER seen it. I don't know about his personal life but as far as his books, I don't see any kind of heresies - he's a dispensationalist which would definitely be at odds with Catholicism.
Okay - what page? I read that book and this is not in that book. I have the book so if you tell me the page, I will check it out - been a while. I read it when I was a teen.
Makes a comforable living scaring people. Like some folks in Hollywood. Entertainment purposes only.
He believes that the prophecies of Revelation are the result of John being allowed to see the end times, and that John's writings about the Apocolypse are 1st century descriptions of 20th or 21st century warfare.
He also believes that the Temple will be rebuilt on the original spot, and that the Israelite system of animal sacrifice will be reinstituted. After that, he believes that Israel will sign a pact with the Arab nations, and that the pact will hold for 3 1/2 years, that the entire world will come against Israel, and that this is the beginning of the final battles. He does not believe that the US will figure prominantly in the end times, but that China and Russia will.
I find him interesting, but read with a grain of salt, and evaluate his statements and supporting arguments. Then, make your own decision.
