Big Buckeye Bounce! CNN Reports Bush Now up by 8% in Ohio, was Down 2% Pre-Convention
CNN - Inside Politics

Posted on 09/08/2004 1:25:05 PM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

Paula Zahn just laid the bad [for them] news on Inside Politics host Judy Woodruff: in the just-released CNN/Time/Gallup poll, among likely voters W now leads by 8% in Ohio, 52% W, 44% Kerry. This compares with a 2% Kerry lead prior to the convention. In other words, W has had a 10% bounce.

An 11% bounce turns up among registered voters in Ohio: from Bush down 10% to Bush leading by 1%.

Zahn teased what she said were some "very interesting results" in the latest poll in Pennsylvania, Missouri and Washington, but said she was holding off on reporting them till her show this evening.

but perplexed that the polls are all over the place.

I don't think so at all. It's probably just a combination of people not really paying attention to what's involved with polling, as well as people's opinions (like this one) often taken as fact. :-)

But, four weeks ago the RNC didn't think Ohio was in play.

Where did you get that from?

Kerry may believe........
This has nothing to do with Kerry. The Die hards are doing it on their own.

They have taken it upon themselves to man the pumps and throw mattresses and timbers against the hull ruptures. The rat vessel is taking on water and everyone must pitch in to prevent sinking.

I just read where Rasmussen has Kerry ahead 48 - 46 in Ohio. What gives?

I wouldn't worry too much about the discrepancy between registered and likely. Many here know, as the pollsters that likely always favors republicans. Let me ask... which would you rather have Bush more ahead in??? Registered or Likely. Because, "likely" (for sure) voters are going to be what makes this a landslide for Bush. A lot of people who are anti-Bush but really don't like Kerry are just not going to vote. Also, this is the first post 9-11 election, and the pollsters don't know how to factor the changing demographics into their turnout models. I suspect this could be a landslide election for Bush. Newt predicted 57-42 Bush a couple of months ago, and I thought he was crazy. Now I am thinking he may have underestimated things.

Forget WV as a swing state. It's solid for Bush.

Big difference between Pat Caddell and Susan Esbitch.

Caddell is an honest old fashioned democrat. Esbitch is a shrieking lefty lib who carries the lies and waters for her team - no matter the candidate.

That's the difference. Caddell might be a Zell democrat. Country over party.

You could go for his "Classic/Classic sans Zogby Interactive" methodology. There's no punditry involved; just the latest polls.

Bush is youth. Surety, Strength, Energy, Boldness.

Kerry is dodderhood, senility. Constant carping and complaining, his life all reminiscing of things as they never were, but that he wanted them to be.

The MSM really groks Kerry, for that reason. They are old and moldy and cranky and he is too.
