Election: It's the Cat People vs. the Dog Lovers Written by Burt Prelutsky Sunday, August 15, 2004

All the pundits who are forecasting the November election, busily analyzing blue states, red states, and those all-important purple swing states, are spinning their wheels. At the risk of sounding even more presumptuous than usual, I contend that they are wasting their time and yours. If you want to know who's going to emerge victorious, all you really need to do is find out how many people have cats living with them and how many have dogs. The cat people, I have decided, will go overwhelmingly for Kerry; the dog lovers will do the same for Bush. It isn't simply that women, who often prefer felines to canines, tend to vote Democratic. It really goes to the nature of the animals........

LOL, it sounds like Mutt really gets into his work. A lot of small dogs will kill mice especially if they have any terrier in them. I've never had a cat that would. They were all too lazy.

Bandit, Kipper's brother, doesn't give a fig about chasing mice. He has no normal JRT hunting skills at all but I think he's unusual. He can't jump either. Kipper is so determined that once he chased a mouse behind the entertainment center and got stuck. The EC sits against the wall and when I went to his rescue he was standing up and couldn't move anything but his head. Hubby and I had to move the EC to get him out. The mouse got lucky that day but he got him the next day. We live in the country and have a problem when the weather gets cold so Kipper stays busy in the Fall.

This is Bandit and you can see what he does best. I have two couch potatoes.

I was preparing my own answer, along those lines --- when I saw your post. You said it perfectly.

I love them both, have had both, but cats rely on themselves, dogs need help.

It's clearly the well-behaved and tolerant dogs in this picture, and not the arrogant strutting cat filing past the honor guard with no regard for them, that are the Conservatives.

He knows he's spoiled. LOL Both of them are. Bandit is lazy and likes to just lay around. Kipper is a typical JRT. He jumps and harasses small animals (rabbits, mice, etc). They are full brothers but Bandit is from the litter after Kipper. I'm thankful they are so different though because I don't know if I could stand two like Kipper. Kipper is well behaved and well trained but he is pretty hyper. If he has to be still for long he literally trembles with energy. :-) Bandit is like an old hound dog.
