Another little John Kerry Vietnam story. See if you can detect why it's another Kerry lie.

Do you have any pets that have made an impact on you personally? Kerry: I have always had pets in my life and there are a few that I remember very fondly. When I was serving on a swiftboat in Vietnam, my crewmates and I had a dog we called VC. We all took care of him, and he stayed with us and loved riding on the swiftboat deck. I think he provided all of us with a link to home and a few moments of peace and tranquility during a dangerous time. One day as our swiftboat was heading up a river, a mine exploded hard under our boat. After picking ourselves up, we discovered VC was MIA. Several minutes of frantic search followed after which we thought we'd lost him. We were relieved when another boat called asking if we were missing a dog. It turns out VC was catapulted from the deck of our boat and landed confused, but unhurt, on the deck of another boat in our patrol.

Swiftboats were made of thin aluminum. Not designed to deflect impacts from large projectiles, much less withstand a mine blast. Not sure if a 5.56mm M-16 would pierce the hull, but a "square" hit from even the .30cal Kalashnikov(sp?) would probably go straight through.

First, it seems if the dog was blown off of the boat, the boat would have been riding a mite lower in the water after that....

Kerry said nothing about having a boat sunk....

According to the men who served with Kerry, his boat was always the one that took off when the action started. I guess the dog would have had to have been catapulted off the deck to reach one of the other boats who remained to help the stricken boat and its crew.

There is the lie. He NEVER WAS in Cambodia. The Swiftboat book Unfit for Command addresses that issue. And Nixon, who had WON election in November 1968, did not take office until January, 1969.

John Kerry is a LIAR! I think mostly Bush haters would vote for Kerry. I say George Bush in a landslide win November 2nd !

FWIW -- the Spot Report for March 13 recites "PCF 23 joined at Cai Nuoc. PCFS with MFS [The Swift Boat with Rassman on it] departed Cai Nuoc at 1445H proceeding down Bay Hap. At VQ995772 mine detonated under PCF-3 lifting boat about 2-3 ft out of water. Very heavy blk smot [? emoke, I think] observed at same time boats rcvd heavy A/W and S/A from both banks. ..."

Another layer of argument has to address how the Spot Report came to be in error on the point of A/W and S/A from both banks. I'm still looking for Thurlow's citation for the Bronze Star.

What's worse than the lie is that he demonizes our allies in the lie, paints a picture of drunken Christmas celebrating Viet allies shooting at our boys...he couldn't even bring himself to have his VC buddies shooting at him inside his fabrication.

Vietnamese Americans need to realize what Kerry is trying to do here.

I believe there may be something more egregiously or unlawful that he wishes to hide and this is doing the job of diverting attention.

Poisoning public sentiment, to be against Vietnam veterans, by invoking made-up charges under the false pretense that "he was there and saw it with his own eyes" is about as big as it gets, even though that doesn't appear to resonate appropriately with the public. I do think his aggrandizement of his war record marks a different sort of character flaw, one that people more readily understand and recoil from.

Maybe the real John Kerry is hidden in his records as a practicing Boston attorney, Ducks' understudy, or maybe lost in the fog of the Senate, America's most corrupt institution.

The GOP has plans to air Kerry's Senate record, what there is of one. I agree though, there may be some juicy scandal (other than the fact that he is an unmitigated phony and con-artist), buried somewhere. If there is one, it's pretty well buried, I would say.
