Parents Beware: Shrek 2 Features Transgenderism and Crossdressing Themes
Traditional Values Coalition ^ | May 28, 2004

Summary: The DreamWorks' animated film, "Shrek 2," is billed as harmless entertainment but contains subtle sexual messages.

Parents who are thinking about taking their children to see "Shrek 2", may wish to consider the following: The movie features a male-to-female transgender (in transition) as an evil bartender. The character has a five o'clock shadow, wears a dress and has female breasts. It is clear that he is a she-male. His voice is that of talk show host Larry King.

During a dance scene at the end of the movie, this transgendered man expresses sexual desire for Prince Charming, jumps on him, and both tumble to the floor.

In another scene in the movie, Shrek and Donkey need to be rescued from a dungeon where they are chained against the wall. The rescue is conducted by pinnochio who is asked to lie so his nose will grow long enough for one of the smaller cartoon characters to use it as a bridge to reach Shrek and Donkey. Donkey encourages him to lie about something and suggetsts he lie about wearing women's underwear. When he denies wearing women's underwear, his nose begins to grow.

An earlier scene in the movie features a wolf dressed in grandma's clothing and reading a book when Prince Charming encounters him. Later, one of the characters refers to the wolf's gender confusion.

TVC's report "A gender Identity Disorder Goes Mainstream" explains the transgender agenda and the effort to deconstruct the biological reality of male and female. DreamWorks is helping in this effort by promoting cross dressing and transgenderism in this animated film.

You can click to the TVC website, and look at "A Gender Identity Disorder Goes Mainstream" As well, Gender-Identity-Disored/Cross dressing are still considered mental disorders by the American Psychiatric Association, though the APA, probably, will sooner-or-later change that.

We are all going to hell in a handbasket. I blame Milton Berle.

Shrek II was a disappointment. My six year old thought it was great and, of course, all the edgy stuff went right over her head, but the movie was obviously written for adults, and with a leer. Don't think I'll be buying the DVD.

Don't forget the glorification of ogres lving in swamps. It's all part of the Swamp Dwellers' Agenda to make their lifestyle choices seem "mainstream" [/end of 'some people have too much time on their hands and need to get a life' sarcastic rant]

In the movie, the character is clearly identified as "The Ugly Stepsister."

It's a joke.

My wife saw this movie with the kids. She pronounced it harmless.

I wish I could get my sister to stop promoting this stuff and letting her kids see them.

They "dress up" these as kid shows w/animation so kids will be dying to see them, and promote them endlessly. Then w/all the peer pressure to boot, the kids pressure parents to take them/let them see so&so "kid's" movie. It's like a no-win situation. You have to be really hard-ball to never go to such wolf-in-sheep's clothing movies.

And that's the real sad thing - there IS no innocent kid's movie. Just like there's no innocent "adult" movie. Hasn't been for ages.

So you're saying that ridiculing the transgendered is a bad thing?

Milton Berle, Red Skelton, and Flip Wilson.

The Republic survived, and laughed uproariously whenever the above appeared in "drag".

Yeah, well, transgenderism wasn't being pushed quite as heavily as it is now within theatres, etc... As well, transgenderism is being taught as 'completely normal' within some California schools.

I don't have kids, so I'm not really in the market for kids' movies, but I occasionally will rent one if the hype is big enough. I thought the first Harry Potter movie was good fun; had it come out when I was a lad, I may have seen it several times. I hope there's no silly objection based on matters of occult themes or other nonsense.

"the movie was obviously written for adults, and with a leer"

And THAT is the difference, my pals who refuse to note their insidious - and increasingly blatant - "messages".

In the old days, Milton Berle was just funny cuz it was silly to see a man in woman's clothes. He played an "ugly woman". He didn't play a "cross-dresser". And he certainly wasn't trying to get any message across, blatantly or surreptitiously.

Other "cross-dressers" like in "Some Like it Hot" were doing it for a reason - to get by in life, etc. Not because they actually WERE cross-dressers, or gay, or anything. Every1 knew it was funny cuz they were put in this predicament and they looked ridiculous.

Nowadays we're see genuine gays, and we're supposed to respect and LOVE that sequined dress on you!

I'm sorry for those who don't get it.

It's not harmless. Any more than all the other blatantly PC movies that tell us how awful the white American male is....

"As well, transgenderism is being taught as 'completely normal' within some California schools."

Sure - but it wasn't in Shrek II. In fact, transgenderism was, if anything, uniformly mocked and made fun of. And I mean seriously made fun of. I'm surprised the transgendereds aren't protesting how pitifully they were depicted.

If you want to make a case about the way transgenderism is taught in California schools, go for it. I would even be tempted to agree with you. However, threads like this do absolutely NOTHING but force me to acknowledge the possibility that the CA schools AREN'T that bad, and the complaints there are just as exaggerated as the complaints here, when liberals make such claims and cite examples like THIS thread for support. I wish you wouldn't put me in that position, because I do know better.
