"the movie was obviously written for adults, and with a leer"

And THAT is the difference, my pals who refuse to note their insidious - and increasingly blatant - "messages".

In the old days, Milton Berle was just funny cuz it was silly to see a man in woman's clothes. He played an "ugly woman". He didn't play a "cross-dresser". And he certainly wasn't trying to get any message across, blatantly or surreptitiously.

Other "cross-dressers" like in "Some Like it Hot" were doing it for a reason - to get by in life, etc. Not because they actually WERE cross-dressers, or gay, or anything. Every1 knew it was funny cuz they were put in this predicament and they looked ridiculous.

Nowadays we're see genuine gays, and we're supposed to respect and LOVE that sequined dress on you!

I'm sorry for those who don't get it.

It's not harmless. Any more than all the other blatantly PC movies that tell us how awful the white American male is....

Who says we're 'supposed to'? I either turn the channel, don't see the movie, or simply laugh at them. Don't let 'them' (?) tell you what you can and cannot laugh AT.

You are making excellent points. This is my criticism as well. Now there is real purpose/motive behind much of this stuff and that purpose is to make it mainstream and considered normative. There is a reason this stuff is being put in movies that are being marketed to children. I do, however, disagree with your comment that no innocent adult movies have been made in years. "Driving Miss Daisy," among others, was fine. Another, even with the adulterous scenario, was "The Horse Whisperer." I'm sure I could come up with others, but that'll do for now.

As you can see, some people are too stupid to "get it."

Amen!!! My oldest daughter has been begging to see this, but no way will she. I wouldn't let her watch this any more than I would let her the read the children's book King and King. It is to say this person's life is harmless and acceptable.

I took my three grand-daughters. They spent most of their time (and my money) getting up for popcorn and candy. To them, believe me, it was harmless. For me, I found it boring. And I never saw the transgender stuff. Guess I wasn't paying attention.
