A telling quote:

"Consider: There are about 400 recognized terrorist groups in the world. Over 90 percent of these are Islamist groups. Over 90 percent of the current world fighting involves Islamist terror movements. The vast majority of world terrorism is religiously motivated by Islam."

The religion of peace, peacing all over the world, coming to a location near you soon.

you should read the Bible...some pretty violent parts, and some pretty X rated parts.

We don't kill witches, adulterers, and disobedient children. We don't massacre entire towns when we conquer them. The reason is that we recognize a lot of the verses are aimed at ancient times when society was different, and Jesus (and the later Rabbis in Judaism) preached mercy and tolerance.

Islam as a whole is a wonderful religion that stresses obedience to God's will, prayer, and compassion. The modern day problem is Islamofascism and the extreme forms of Islam of Iran. These have more in common with fascism and Marxism than with Islam, since they are Utopian interpretations of certain verses, which ignore the history of Islam.

You want to criticize these versions of Islam? Fine. And criticize the KKK, the Spanish Inquisition (which was a secular court that used church law to destroy political enemies) and the pogroms of Orthodox Russia. But don't say that these extremist positions represent the belief system of 1 billion people. If we were fighting one billion people, we'd have more than 800 casualties in one year. We are fighting 20 000 extremists and a few despots. Period.

I think you need to add to this list of "20,000 extremists and a few despots", the lying crooked liberals who have declared "war" upon the Constitution of the US. Old Teddy's babel and Hillry's shrill are after the same objective as the blood thristy killers, destruction of "freedom".

The problems with the Muslim Religion fanatics is NOT modern. It is it's foundation. Their schools still teach "hate" and "kill the Jews and the Christians".

I have a circa 1850 book written by a scholar during the period he visited the Middle East. The outstanding engraving and caption is a Muslim on a horse: "With the Koran in one hand and their sword in the other".

Can you point out one Islamic country where that is true?

Saudi Arabia - Conversion by a Muslim to another religion is punishable by death. Bibles are illegal. Churches are illegal.

Yemen - Bans proselytizing by non-Muslims and forbids conversions. The Government does not allow the building of new non-Muslim places of worship.

Kuwait - Registration and licensing of religious groups. Members of religions not sanctioned in the Koran may not build places of worship. Prohibits organized religious education for religions other than Islam.

Egypt -Islam is the official state religion and primary source of legislation. Accordingly, religious practices that conflict with Islamic law are prohibited. Muslims may face legal problems if they convert to another faith. Requires non-Muslims to obtain what is now a presidential decree to build a place of worship.

Algeria - The law prohibits public assembly for purposes of practicing a faith other than Islam. Non-Islamic proselytizing is illegal, and the Government restricts the importation of non-Islamic literature for distribution.

Jordan - Has the death penalty for any Muslim selling land to a Jew.

ETC.

HAve you even read the Koran?

These are NOT versions of Islam, that is the basic concept of Isalm. It's NOT like a true religion which preaches peace at its ocre (Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Zoroastrianism).

Did Christ tell his followers to go and slaughter all non-believers? No. Did Mo do that? YES.

Rubbish. Those verses talk about a time when God told the Israelis to carry out those acts. They do not have the blanket statemetn Go out and kill now and in the future.

But there are forces at work within Islam itself. Last year, an Iranian scholar stressed out that the surats of the Coran were written in two different cities : Medine, and La Mecque, and that the most violent ones addressed the political and theological situation that prevailed in Medine (IIRC) at that time.

The problem, as you said, is that present Islamic schools, especially in Third-World countries, preach violence and destruction of the infidel. But they could as easily preach the more tolerant messages you will also find in the Coran.

I do criticize these, but how many were killed? thousands? And at a specific time in history, not for 14 centuries uninterrupted. Mo's followers have killed 100s of millions of people if not 1 billion + people ON RELIGIOUS SANCTION.

Name any other religion which tells its followers to do that?

Go and live in Saudi Ar to so how things really are.

According to Shariah, converts from Islam should be killed. THat is the law and it is the law in Saudi A, Pakistan, Sudan, etc. In Saudi A it is against he law for any citizen to follow another religion. If you wear a cross you can be arrested, churchs/temples are verboten.

Yeah, really? you mean to tell me the 100 million Pakis, 20 million Saudis, millions of others etc. aren't on your radar?

We're fighting against a democnic cult, not against a people.

We are fighting the Borg, unthinking, unintelligent, violent, senseless creatures made that way by a sinister cult.

Actually, in Egypt, even repairing Coptic churchs that are ancient from the time Egypt WAS 100% Christian needs a court order.

Ambiguous central messages? Does the Bible have a different central theme from the Sermon on the Mount????

Despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary...but why should I believe my lyin' eyes, anyway...a lie repeated often enough...often enough...often enough...

You could find many examples, just as horrifying, of Christian communities or countries making a massacre of Muslims, Jews, and other Christians. Does that make Christianty a criminal religion ? Are these killings ordered by God, G-d or Allah, or are they ordered by mortal men who find in religion a useful tool to further their own very earthly goals ?

The difference is that those were past aberrations in the practice of Christianity, and Christians soundly reject those practices now. Islam is STILL supporting, or at the least, not condemning the actions of the people doing violence in the name of their religion.
