I really liked LOTR but Viggo Mortensen's foolish nonsense outside the film diminished his standing with me, but he is not an American. We were attacked on September 11th. We still don't know about the Anthrax. The public still does not know why Libya came out of the cold after spending so much money on nuclear materials. We are in a real war. It is unconscionable for any American to betray us at this time.

Well, I think he is too closely handled at times, and doesn't get to show who he really is. I think he needs to trust his own instincts a bit more, and Karl Rove's...a little less.

Could be, B Knotts. Remember one reason Dole lost. He was a 'mean old man' and Darth Vader, etc. After the election, when he was speaking in his own voice and was no longer being "handled," people saw the real Bob Dole - and some who didn't care for him during the campaign even found they liked him!

It is a betrayal. Bush is a patriot, honest, conscientous, an Evangelical Christian, antiabortion, pro death penalty, not a bigot in any way, shape, or form. It is a dangerous betrayal in a close election. We can only hope the millions who see the movie won't listen to Gibson. Otherwise we get Kerry and go the way of Spain.

You are missing my point. He has said these things...though he says these things in front of Diane Sawyer and Meet the Press where his answer get washed over. Im talking oval office tv timeout. He doesn't have to actually advocate it. He simply has to voice enough doubts about Bush to affect the election. This could be very close. I don't recall Mel Gibson speaking out against Bill Clinton all those years he was supposed to be on his knees in prayer. Why now ? Why against Bush ? It is reckless. There has to be a reason.
