Hang him high by the 'nads and slowly strip off his skin. No punishment is too cruel for these perverts.

It's still me and yes I am forgiving but forgiving and justice are 2 different issues.

This is another wake up call--Things got to change. If our forfathers could come out of their graves they would kick our A$$ for what we have let happen to the nation they gave us. Political correctness, compassion, free love, hippisms, have had their chance--they don't work. We are becoming a society being ravaged by social experimentation. Its time to take back America from the leftists and socialists! They had their chance and it failed. Roll back the clock to the 1950s and lets put this human filth in Old Sparky ASAP.

Things seem to be getting worse with each day. How long until something is done?

I heard the sheriff or someone say that he would be getting the "ultimate" penalty - that certainly sounds like death.

I'm probably wrong, but isn't one of the gals (goofy name) out on the streets?

Linda Kasabian was the driver for both murders. She turned State's evidence and was given immunity in return for her testimony.

**I'm not liking the big brother idea..but what do you think about cameras on every street corner?**

Watching the travel channel on Monaco last week, they have cameras on every street corner and inbetween with an elaborate control room - they have almost zero crime. Of course it is to protect their rich patrons but you don't hear anyone screaming about their personal liberties either.

I once heard a wise religious leader say that this kind of abomination, more than anything else, is what causes the angels to beg God to let Jesus Christ return to Earth immediately.

I agree.

I am actually praying that is true. I don't want to hear 20 years from now that he is out with a chance to prey on my grandchildren...I have already had a loved one preyed upon by a monster like him. Career criminal, two time predatory sex offender.

The judge would have to consider the medical need for him to be on medication, and in Smith's case, I'm sure he considered the expense of the medicine to be necessary to Smith's rehabilitation.

When weighing Smith's ability to pay his fines, and whether SMith is willfully refusing to meet the terms of his parole, the judge is required to consider his minimum basic living expenses.

I don't think the judge acted unreasonably in giving Smith time to gain employment and resume payment of fines and costs. It would be unusual to throw Smith back in jail with out other factors indicating he is violating parole.

You know what I wonder? I don't have the dates on the parole hearing, but I was wondering whether it came before or after Wishart's brutal slaying.

It may be that the parole hearing was triggered automatically by the drug test, but it seems to me the parole officer would have KNOWN about Smith's medical prescriptions.

There may have been some attempt to pick up local criminals on account of that crime - I wonder how aquainted local police were with Smith. Maybe they WANTED him picked up??
They're certainly going to be frustrated that they weren't able to give the judge solid basis enough to get him back in the slammer.

Didn't he wait a day before issuing the Amber alert because he thought she was a runaway?

He had no choice. Amber alerts can only be issued when certain conditions are met. Otherwise there would be literally thousands of Amber Alerts every year, 99.5% of which would turn out to be false, and society would ignore them.

My thought was that they had already found DNA in his car, which indicated that the girl was dead, they weren't going to offer a deal. A deal to avoid the death penalty would only have been offered if the girl could be found alive. I assume that they told the guy that if she was already dead, they didn't need the body to fry him. So whatever else they had to offer would be all that he could bargain for.

The wording is a little different in my Bible but thanks for the correct book. I had read it a long time ago and it stuck in my mind.
King James reads: It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.
Living Bible reads: If he were thrown into the sea with a huge rock tied to his neck, he would be far better off than facing the punishment in store for those who harm these little children's souls, I am warning you!

my response that you are quoting was referring to the Bible verse that to ME, puts those who harm children to be in a different forgiveness category, if you will, than your regular old sinning.
Nothing to do with your post. OK?

People in the SARASOTA area should take up shovels and pitchforks, as in a old horror film, and destroy that monster. Where is the civil unrest? Put some fear into that man, break the doors down, and take him out!!!

Don't let justice slip for years...

I think they had enough to meet the specific criteria, she was on the borderline of the age criteria, but was known to be walking HOME alone, was spotted walking alone in the direction of home, and she dissappeared on route.

But assuming they were correct not to consider the entire fact situation, one thing really, really, bothers me.

A fellow had seen a young woman trying to escape a man in a parking lot - she was dressed like Carlie. It may have been Carlie.

He did not report this until after the Amber Alert with her description, and the videotape had been released.
If he had heard an Amber Alert with her description
I feel certain he would have called in what he had seen.
It might even have been in time to save her.

If he had called anyway, of course, whether it was Carlie or not, I think that was all the extra it would have taken police to issue an Amber Alert.

I think POLICE should have made a different judgement about whether Carlie's dissappearance met the criteria for an Amber Alert. They get the public involved, and even if it had been stepdad who abducted her, it could provide valuable information to solve her dissappearance.

If he butchered her the way Joyce Wishart was butchered, they might have found proof of Carlie's death in the car...

The last time I entered a Catholic church was the day I heard the responsorial prayers calling for an end to the death penalty.

That's all it took? Amazing, considering that's not doctrine.
