I've done tomatoes in the past, in pots. This year was the first time I've ever planted them in the ground, and the yield looks to be much better.
Like you, I was concerned about the look of the plants. Luckily, I have a retaining wall, towards the back of the lot. I planted the tomatoes on the back side of the wall, and you can't see them from the back yard or the house. The spot gets full sun all day.
I planted 3 Roma tomato plants, 4 "Early Girls" (this is the recommendation from my friend's parents who used to run a vegetable and fruit stand, and who have the biggest vegatable garden that I have seen.) The three Romas did not grow one inch. It's strange, they didn't grow, but they didn't die. They are there, doing nothing. While their friends right next to them are giants!

Our Romas did the same thing last year. Then they went nutz at the end of the growing season.

Hmmm. I wonder where I posted those comments. Maybe I was just thinking about them. LOL!
Cheer up, Guennie! You don't have senior-itis...I do! Ha!
Cassie got a bath this morning with my daughter's help. She was starting to get fleas and was a trifle...doggy smelling. She got a shampoo and shower with the hose and flea spray. She was quite sulky, her preference being smelly and itchy as opposed to getting wet. She is much more appealing now, however.
Daughter's hair coloring I didn't mention until I wrote that last bit. She had her hair colored earlier in the spring and it was getting a reddish tinge, which she didn't like. So she got rinse to cover the red. It looks ok, although I would prefer she go back to her natural color, which is light brown with blonde streaks. However, I am not an artist, so what do I know? Ha!

It's a bomb squad guy (Lefty is the generic name) working on disarming some kind of ordinance. He's in the suit that's supposed to keep his corpse pretty for the funeral. His comrade behind him, also with the nickname of Lefty, has a paper bag filled with air. He's getting ready to smack it and make a little boom.
LOL! I just can't quit laughing.

I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE A CHANCE TO ASK YOU ALL TO PRAY FOR US! HERE IS HOW OUR 4TH OF JULY WEEKEND WENT.
Well, Saturday evening we went to bed at 10 p.m., started to watch the news and at 10:15 p.m., Larry said "Bev, something is wrong!" and began to shake - I don't mean shivering - I mean heavy duty rigors!!! His temperature shot up to 104.2 (axillary) degrees in a matter of minutes. I tried to listen to his lungs, get a blood pressure, ask him some questions....but, he was becoming delirious - I grabbed the bedside phone to call 911 and before I could, he began to choke. I got him on his side (so he wouldn't aspirate) just as the projectile vomiting began. Got 911 called and tried to take care of him an answer their pertinent question at the same time. The EMT's had a terrible time getting an IV started - two of us had to hold him down (rigors were that strong) - finally got him on the gurney and into the ambulance. (He remembers practically nothing about the ambulance ride). After the all the blood work and tests, they determined he had Pneumococcal disease and if we hadn't gotten him to treatment as quickly as we did, the chances are that he wouldn't have survived, because of his already compromised medical condition.
He responded to the drugs immediately and by 0300, they admitted him and he asked me what in the world happened!!!! It was unbelievable how quickly the onset of symptoms appeared!!! One minute he was talking to me, about a car chase we were watching on TV, and the next minute, he was deathly ill.
Where he picked up this bacteria is a mystery - his auto immune system is poor because of his multiple health problems and so he is very susceptible to any bug that comes along.
He just got along so well that they gave him the last IV of ROCEPHIN (the doctors call it "gorilla-cillin" because it is so powerful) this morning and released him!!! He will be on Azithromycin for the next 6 days - we buy Z-packs when we are in MX each year so had it in our own stock :-) His recovery was as swift as the onset of the disease!!!!
And, that is how we spent our weekend :-)

A GOOD P.M. TO ONE AND ALL FROM THE MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST, USA!!!!
Here I am sitting in my new surrondings at d house. Sil hooked up my computer, got my BR furniture moved in so now, in my new 'residence'. Gotta tell you, sure feels strange here on my first night away from my home. They decided to move me in today instead of Friday.
Spent most of the day moving stuff to the storage unit and while packing my pictures I found a lot of Thomas Kincade paintings my wife had bought and some from other artist. I didn't know she like Kincade but appartently did. I bet we cound 30 or more paintings so I got to research these, all numbered paintings.
I am gonna rest for a while. We moved some real heavy furniture and all that work wore me plum out.
Sure feels strange in my new room. Oh well, I will survive.

Welcome to your new home! I have often told my husband that "when" we win the lottery, I want to move into one of the homes that Thomas Kincaid painted :-)

Start out by imagining you are on vacation. I know this change is hard. Try to keep in mind how happy Treva would be to have another young couple starting their life in that house you shared for so many years. I think hints of your love remain in that house and will be a blessing to that young couple. You can also make friends with them and answer questions about the yard.
Glad your computer is hooked up! I would hate to miss your greetings from the Gulf Coast! If we get any cash to take a vacation, yours is one of the places I will be sure to visit!

My goodness! I am so glad Larry is on the mend, but what a frightening experience! Prayers continue for you two; you make me realize the value of a partnership in marriage!
To: lysie; gulfcoast6
but your friends ..here..Toby haven't changed a bitI have to agree with Lysie. When I was down in San Antonio for 6 weeks, it was very important for me to touch bases with my friends at ATRW. When I lived in a hotel for over a month, earlier this year, I really missed ATRW. When I was in Korea for two weeks, I went to the base library and checked in on ATRW. When I was in Wyoming for two weeks, I went to the base library and checked in on ATRW.
My friends here mean as much to me as the friends I see every day or talk to on the phone every week.
You, Toby, are dearly loved on ATRW. As they say in the Air Force: "We've got your six."
/john
To: gulfcoast6
Hang in there, Toby. Changes are always stressful, and this one is a biggie.
We're here for you always!
