Good Monday Morning everyone!
In today's news, the "guerilla phase" of the war continues as another US soldier has been shot and killed in Iraq.
Amb. Bremer says the operation is on track to appoint an Iraqi-led commission to begin the return to self-government.
Severe weather again dominated the skies over Illinois and the Chicago area.
Let's Roll!!

Make that 2 soldiers killed, one in an assassination, and the other in an ambush.
Kay, I'm not sure this is the latest ping list, so when you can, would you send it to me?? Thanks!

We took John to the A-C airport yesterday afternoon,& then he was stuck there for hours because of bad weather in Chicago where he was due to connect.
Finally - near midnight - my husband returned to the airport to bring him home, and he's leaving early Tues. morning from Cleveland...

Good morning! I am going to do some yard work EARLY before the heat gets too severe. Large sections of Indiana are under a flood watch, and northern Indiana has flood warnings.

It'll definitely put him behind with work/school, but he's philosophical about it.
Apparently he was getting info from another guy travelling from here to Madison, WI via O'Hare.
The guy had a brother who had left earlier to go thru Chicago.
(Brothers, like John, had returned to Ohio this weekend for a wedding....and all were communicating via cell-phone)
Any way, the 3rd guy was stuck in a plane on a runway for HOURS at O'Hare...
John and the other brother were MUCH better off just waiting in the airport here.

Molly, what a great name to read on a July 7th, 2003!

Molly's story
The enemy is almost upon us! cried one of the soldiers. Stand fast, replied Molly. The cheers of the soldiers rang down the line. The battle was turning, and there in the ranks stood Molly Pitchera cannoneer. When the fighting was over, and the British were in retreat, the soldiers gathered about her to praise her courage, but she did not hear their words. She was bending over her husband, nursing his wounds. The next day the story of Molly Pitcher passed through the camp. General Nathanael Greene heard it and strode straight to Mollys tent. Come, my brave girl, he said. I want to take you to General Washington. As they reached the tent of the great commander, he rose with his grave and stately manner, and with a courteous bow to the Irish girl, he extended his hand. You have made a brave stand, he said. We will win our liberty, if we all stand fast like you.

I see she was Irish. We have a saying in my Welsh family: don't start a fight with a Celt that you don't want to finish.

We are about 25 miles from O'Hare and only received about 6 raindrops. It is still very dry here.
Very nice, risk. Thank you.

Good Morning. It's 73 degrees and the skies are dark this morning. We finally got a little rain yesterday. .1 inch, was better than nothing. I'm not sure it was enough to bring the lawns back.
I'm hoping those dark skies will dump something on us.
Molly: Better to be delayed and safe.
I have a neice who is a Vetenarian near South Bend. She was complaining this weekend about the one way trafic thru Chicago. She was going to return to South Bend via hwy 34.
I am looking forward to a day at home to catch up. Last week was sort of a "drive by housekeeping" type of week.

I have been keeping you abreast of the fascinating machinations in the Indiana Republican gubernatorial contest.
This is from Joe Scarborough's column "The Real Deal" which was posted today:
AN OFFER HE COULDN'T REFUSE It appears that Karl Rove and Indiana Republican Party officials are thinning the competition for newly returned Mitch Daniels. You'll recall that Daniels has been mulling a run for Indiana governor for some time, and stepped down as President Bush's director of the Office of Management and Budget in order to get back home again for a clearer shot at the seat.
Now comes word that state senator Luke Kenley has stepped out of the ring to give Daniels a clearer shot. Kenley had been running for governor for almost two years.
HA! I am right about what's going on!
