Two-thirds of Americans believe the war in Iran has not been worth fighting.

A new AP-NORC poll found that roughly two-thirds of U.S. adults say the war that began Feb. 28 is not worthwhile. The sentiment is shared by the vast majority of Democrats (87%) and independents (68%), as well as 37% of Republicans.

The AP-NORC poll, conducted July 23-27, surveyed 1,165 adults and has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.7 percentage points.

Churchill was opposed to Normandy, he thought going through Italy was the better idea.

Churchill was a great man, but a brilliant military tactician he wasn’t (See Gallipoli).

what if they do it after nuking DC?
———————————————————————————————————

Just a few months ago, Trump proudly announced that we had “completely obliterated” the Iranian nuclear program, setting it back at least a decade or two.
Now, Iranian nukes are an existential threat.

Only one of those can be true.

What’s really sad is that this idiocy — both now and in the 2000s with the Iraq debacle — has turned FR into a shadow of what it once was.

Trump’s doing fine damaging his own agenda. He doesn’t need help.

Meaning the standard of living here goes down 30%.

Meaning we can't continue to use massive, unsustainable debt to finance a standard of living we can't afford.

I'll take that deal any day of the week.

“cost of those military campaigns”

In my youth, the Vietnam War was said to cost $100 billion.

Adjusted for inflation, that would be roughly $1.4 trillion.

For years, the USA had roughly 500,000 troops in Vietnam, far, far more than in Iraq and Afghanistan combined, the figure of 50,000 coming to mind.

There should have been propaganda to sway the masses in advance of the next wave of bombings.

After what this country went through with the COVID fiasco, you'd have to be seriously retarded to believe any propaganda this government peddles to the masses.

Adding up in the polls....

Very good -- thanks! Now it makes sense.

What exactly has the U.S. gotten for all the "investment" that has been made since 1990 when the dark red bars almost disappeared?

North American crude supplies would be larger if not for the Biden (and his allies) policies, and considerably larger if Biden had aggressively picked Western Hemisphere (and particularly North American) oil SUPPLY as a method to counter Putin.

That likely would not buffer all the present price increase, but it would certainly help.

Besides, if Trump took no action, how long would it be before the Iranian regime used this lever, anyway? The further you go down the line of inaction, the more leverage they would have.

You left out the part where the 12th Iman emerges from his hiding place well\hole\cave. Destroys all infidels including the Muslim non-12er Shia and Sunni and conquers the world!

World peace, endless willing women to rape, gold and skittles from heaven for all eternity. What’s not to like!

“ The CIA started this in 1953.”

Mossadegh ignored Iran’s constitution, the parliament, and the shah in an attempt to set himself up as a dictator. He dissolved the parliament, fired a bunch of generals, and set up un-secret elections that heavily favored his own party. Just about everyone in Iran didn’t like this guy. The CIA claimed the success, but, in fact, had little to do with getting rid of this guy.

Leftist poll

Shovel your crap somewhere else. You’re a damn liar

Here is a snapshot of the latest national polling on President Trump’s job approval from several major polling organizations.

Pollster Approve Disapprove
AP-NORC 33% 67%
CNN/SSRS 34% 66%
Economst/YouGov 36% 60%
Fox News 39% 60%

Across polling averages, the picture is similar:

RealClearPolling average: approximately 40% approval.
Silver Bulletin average: approximately 38% approval and 58–59% disapproval.

You and I are not “seriously retarded” but as Winston Churchill said: “The strongest argument against democracy is a three minute conversation with any voter.”

Let's be clear, not once did Trump, during his first term, say that Iran is at war with the United States. Other than the assassination of Qasem Soleimani, how did Trump during his first term prosecute this war that you claim has been going on since 1979?

Trump was in the 1st instance incorrect. I don’t think anyone had fully explained Iran’s “mosaic” strategies to him.

OTOH, you are, deliberately and dishonestly I suspect, leaving out the 3rd factor, which is Iran working on creating enough missile capacity to effectively deter anyone from attempting further strikes on the Iranian nuclear weapons program. It is quite clear they were getting close on that “inoculation”.
