I just dual booted from Linux into Windows, and Brave disabled both the FR Posting Form Enhancer and the FR Tree View.

Has anyone else had this issue? I looked it up, and it says that Brave has been changing from MV-2 to MV-3 (whatever that is... something about the Google API) since 2024.
I didn't have this issue on Linux using Brave, just minutes earlier.
Brave is recommending that I remove both of those extensions, and will NOT allow me to reactivate them.
(There is a way posted through A.I., but it is a PITA, but supposedly doable. Will look it up later, if I have to.)
The other problem is that cynwoody is no longer around to update his extension, which means that anyone here that is using his extensions are SOOL.

Yeah, was not able to add the extensions on my iphone, so maybe the same with Android.
Was only Linux and Windows for me.
It DOES recommend using Firefox, that it will still work... but I abandoned FireFox a few years ago when they fired one of the co-founders of Mozilla for supporting a conservative.

Pollard. I am using the FR form extension from your Home page, but I am using Fire Fox.
Do you have any info that could assist Bikkuri?
To: Bikkuri
From a search:
Extensions not published on the Chrome Web Store may be disabled for safety. You can manually enable them by enabling Developer mode in brave://extensions and dragging the .crx file onto the page.
To prevent users from disabling or uninstalling specific extensions, you can use the ExtensionInstallForcelist policy. This requires manually editing the Windows Registry to specify the extension IDs.

https://x.com/i/grok/share/717ac691debd408a925dd5a0c2cc3f28FR Posting Form Enhancer and FR Tree Viewer (also called FR Tree View) are user scripts (Greasemonkey/Tampermonkey scripts) designed for FreeRepublic.com (FR), a political discussion forum. They enhance the site's posting and thread-reading experience.
FR Posting Form Enhancer- Purpose: Makes the reply/posting form much easier to use by adding a toolbar for common HTML tags (e.g., bold, italics, links, quotes, images).
- It reduces manual typing of tags and improves the overall input interface on FR's posting pages.
- Available on Greasy Fork: Search for "FR Posting Form Enhancer" (script ID around 4726).
FR Tree Viewer (FR Tree View)- Purpose: Transforms flat, linear comment threads on Free Republic into a nested tree/hierarchical view, making it easier to follow replies and conversations (similar to modern forum threading).
- It groups comments and their replies visually for better readability in long threads.
Both were created by cynwoody and have been popular among FR users for years (especially Firefox users with script managers). How to Install and Use- Install a userscript manager like Tampermonkey or Violentmonkey (available for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, etc.).
- Visit the Greasy Fork pages for the scripts and click Install.
- They should activate automatically on FreeRepublic.com posting and thread pages.
Note: These are older scripts, so compatibility can vary with site changes or modern browsers. Check recent feedback on Greasy Fork or FR threads for updates/workarounds. Some users have discussed alternatives or forks when the originals need maintenance. If you're looking for installation help, updates, alternatives, or have issues with them on current FR, provide more details!

Not necessarily.
Option 1 use Firefox.
Option 2 draw straws for who will revise/update the extension for compatibility with Chromium browsers like Brave, Chrome, Edge, etc.

I’ve been using these extensions for more than a decade.
This problem just popped up... it appears that it is a limited problem to Brave Browser, at the moment.

I typically have both Firefox and Chrome open all the time because different websites work better with one or the other. I guess I’m just used to it.
Another option is to use an HTML editor that can swap between WYSIWYG and HTML code view. For example, Sea Monkey from Mozilla. Compose your comment in the editor and then copy the code into the FR dialog.

Although to be honest, for most of the comments that I make on FR, I just input the HTML by hand. Muscle memory knows most of the tags anyway.

Ok, running Chromium now and it still works (guess I can still be lazy ;^)).
Will be an extra step to use FR, but it's worth it.
I was only using Chromium to run streaming (Wildvine 🤮), but at least it's not Google.
