I just left my car at a local tire store to get some new rubber for my Mustang.
I was first in line as the store opened for the day at 7 o'clock.
The manager unlocked the door, but there was no 'crew' to be seen, which I thought was kinda unusual.
There are six bays but only one guy showed up for work.
A white guy.
I left the key with the manager as I work across the street, and I told him I'd call. He said they may not be able to get to it today....................
I know, I was just pointing out that the place is a national chain store and not a mom & pop owned store.
Being a national chain, they probably have the blessing of the Corporate Board........
I have been celebrating June 19th for eons:

I went to a high school that had about 30% Jews. New teachers were told to never schedule a test on Yom Kippur or Rosh Hashanah.
I don’t work on my birthday. One year corporate BS denied me vacation on birthday, I was grumpy but I was going to comply. But the day before my boss came up to me and said “you don’t look so good, you should probably take tomorrow off”. Good boss.
We don’t work @#$%. If you want to take a random day off do it. If they want to give you a random day off enjoy it, but don’t be grateful, cause they don’t deserve that.
And the board should be smart enough to say “we should just close”.
And on a Fry Day this year!
They could move to Massghanistan and get the day off.

This is hardly a proclamation to celebrate. The freedmen were told to stay at “their present homes”, meaning the homes of their former masters and “work for wages.” Since the South had been stripped of wealth this advice was drained of any real meaning. The freedmen were facing 80 years of peonage, courtesy of federal bayonets.
And the phrase: “will not be supported in idleness” - what made white Union officers think that might be a future problem? Did white northerners get that from watching Gone With the Wind - or from reading Uncle Tom's Cabin?
The text of the Union proclamation is so wrought with prejudice that a local bank had to rewrite it when they ran an ad in the newspaper this week to celebrate - well, to celebrate idleness.
I support a holiday to celebrate the end of slavery in the United States. But that should be when the U.S. adopted the 13th amendment which was three years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
I don’t mind Juneteenth as an unofficial holiday. It reflects the best of the Republican Party. The best of the Union war effort in the Civil War. And a noble cause - the end of slavery - in the face of public opposition. Lincoln was politically brave for pushing it. And the Union army was right to enforce the abolition of slavery in the South including Texas. It is a reminder of a time when the Democrats most definitely were the bad guys - just plain evil for wanting to preserve slavery.
But alas, we can’t have a Juneteenth that commemorates that. It has turned into a modern political wedge issue used by, ironically, the same Democrat Party that wanted to literally keep blacks in chains. It has been perverted into part of the liberal pantheon of movement politics.
Is that like Happy Memorial day? I always thought it was for a day of reflection and to honor those that gave it all. Happy juneteenth is a thing now.
Juneteenth doesn’t ‘celebrate Blacks’; if it celebrates anything, it’s the Emancipation Proclamation.

One of the young ladies near me is half Black. She was wondering why we don’t have the day off.
I had to bite my tongue.
I wanted to say: “maybe you should go get a job ten miles south of here in MA”.
But that might have gotten me called into the bosses office.
I have my family, my health and the decorations are up for Johannisnacht. We will be giving small lectures Friday, Saturday and, of course on the 24, about why we celebrate this man who changed the world.
We don't do Juneteenth as we do not live in Texas. Why would we celebrate another state's holiday? That would be weird.
President Trump should celebrate Juneteeth by having the United States army march through Democrat controlled states and removing their governments just like in the 1860s. Toss in another stanza of The Battle Hymn of the Republic to sing about Trump.
It’s a national holiday now....................
Eventually, Independence Day will become 19 June.
If we are going to make all state holiday federal ones.
