SAN DIMAS, CA — A group of bored high school students asked their chemistry teacher this week when he was going to teach them how to cook meth and go on crazy adventures in an RV.
The group peppered teacher William Wright with questions about how to cook "really pure crytal meth" and "when the actual fun part of chemistry was going to start, with the drug cartels and feds and whatever."
"I'll be honest, I had no idea what these kids were talking about," Wright told reporters. "I don't know where they would get such wild ideas, but I haven't ever considered making meth. I just took on a second part-time job at the school as a soccer coach. I don't even know how to cook meth! I mean, I could probably figure it out…"
The students were undeterred by Wright's assertions that he did not, in fact, know how to manufacture illegal drugs.
"We know he can do it," student Mitchel Myers said. "Class is so boring. When's he gonna get to the good stuff? We've seen the show, so we know where this goes. This is what chemistry teachers do. We could be bumping around in a sweet RV and making millions."
At publishing time, Wright expressed concern after a group of students told him they'd already lined up a buyer for the ‘good stuff' and asked him to slip them the recipe.

Kinda cool, had a chemistry set, wondered how I could make LSD.
I personally was not interested.
I liked explody things.
baking soda in the sugar bowl...and my dad’s hot cup of coffee...that’s as bad as I was...
Not until their lab technique improves.
The resulting cobbler was "interesting".
Owsley is your man.
Oh, wait, he’s dead.
🤷♂️
Making rocket fuel was my interest.
Senator, there is no such thing as a mafia in America.
Apparently, “balance your equation” in chemistry by putting your finger on one side of the scale is wrong.
I could understand this as San Demas is east of even east L.A.

I and a couple other students asked our high school chemistry teacher for some potassium nitrate. He said “sure”, unlocked his supply room and went in. About thirty seconds later he came back out and said “do you really think I’m that dumb. Don’t blow yourselves up if you do find some.” He had probably done that tease every year to students looking to make gunpowder because his timing was so perfect.
Yeah, just some coal and some Sulphur.
My son was in HS chemistry class and the class was exploring atomic models. He and a classmate made crystal meth. 😁
Guess I got what I deserved
Kept you waiting there too long, my love
All that time without a word
Did you even think that I’d forget and regret?
The special love I had for you

I saw Fagin and Becker 3-4 times over the years. Worthwhile.
If you haven’t seen it, there’s a documentary on the making of Aja you should watch. You get to see a little of their perfectionism in the studio.
The Aja video is very entertaining and informational - still have the old, non-BluRay video with poor quality.
