Islam leads global religious growth with 2.04 billion adherents worldwide, representing 25% of the global population.
Muslim population expands rapidly, and projections show a 70% increase between 2015 and 2060. This growth surpasses the expected 32% increase in global population during the same period. Muslims will likely reach near parity with Christians by 2050, reaching 2.8 billion followers that represent 30% of the world’s population.
Three main factors drive Islam’s rapid expansion:
Muslim populations show clear patterns of concentration and growth across regions:
Region | Current Status | Projected Growth |
---|---|---|
Asia-Pacific | Largest concentration (62% of Muslims) | Expected to reach 1.5 billion by 2050 |
Middle East & North Africa | 93% Muslim population | Projected to reach 94% by 2050 |
Sub-Saharan Africa | 30% Muslim population | Expected to reach 35% by 2050 |
Europe | 6% current Muslim share | Projected to reach 10% by 2050 |
Asia sees the most notable regional changes. India will surpass Indonesia as the country with the largest Muslim population. Europe’s Muslim population will grow by 63% between 2010 and 2050, while the overall European population decreases by 6%.
Demographics shift dramatically in countries with large Muslim minorities. India’s Muslim population will increase from 14.9% in 2015 to 19.4% by 2060. Nigeria‘s population will change from a roughly equal Christian-Muslim split to a Muslim majority of 60.5% by 2060.[...]
Christianity’s Global Growth Trends
Christians worldwide are growing at 1.08% each year. This rate edges slightly above the global population growth. .[...]<
Regional Christian Population Changes
Christian demographics show a dramatic move from the Global North to the Global South. Europe’s Christian population dropped from 66% in 1910 to 25.6% in 2010. Sub-Saharan Africa tells a different story. The region’s Christian population jumped from 9% in 1910 to 63% in 2010.[...]
Evangelical Christianity shows remarkable expansion. Numbers jumped from 98 million believers in 1970 to more than 342 million today. The Global South leads this surge.
Now if there only were a chart showing the Born-into children that end up being Flee-from adults...
I guess the Pasties and the Shakers fall under the Nips category.
Ping
...and pray tell how that would matter in the scheme of things?
They are here, they are already statistics for a moment in time.
Which moment are you wanting?
- Children born into _____families stay _____and they will SHUN you if you leave the faith
Children NOT born into _____families and never accept _____ while alive will be identified after death and proxy baptized, thereby giving them a chance to finally see the light and become a _____.
Thanks for the ping (though I was the OP).
