Aug. 21 (UPI) -- Police in Mississippi warned drivers to avoid an area Wednesday when a truck lost its load of beer into the roadway.
The Oxford Police Department said on social media that Jefferson Avenue was closed Wednesday between North Lamar and North 9th Street after the 18-wheeler dumped part of its load into the roadway.
Photos from the scene show the road littered with beer including Bud Light, Modelo and Natural Light.
"Please use another route," police wrote. "And no, you cannot come help 'clean up.'"

It would be cheaper just to put out a sign “Free Beer”. It would be gone without labout within the day.
I lived in St Joseph Missouri in the 70’s and we had a Pearl Brewery in town. They had an underground warehouse to store their products. The Missouri River got wide one year and flooded the basement of that brewery. The water according to heath standards contaminated the beer containers. Cases of beer got condemned to the dump in St Joesph. Well I worked at a coal fired electrical plant down by the dump where the beer was buried. Most of the containers were broke but some survived. The hobos and derelicts down at the rail yards near the dump dug for the treasure. Free beer is a real thing. We all laughed about it drinking draft beer after work at the South Town Tavren or Hap’s. Seems like a hundred years ago. Just shows to go ya, history does repeat itself or stutter. 😊

Fact is I like fresh beer battered catfish fried nice and crisp. What I like better is fishing for them. I especially like it when they growl at me. I’ve been knee deep on a Missouri River sandbar but never the Mississippi River. Wrong end of Missouri I guess but the catfish are great. Drinking beer and fishing. Two I’m my favorite sports I’ve near out lived my favorite sport, good thing the wife did. I don’t look good naked anymore.

Oh, just go ahead and let the locals come get the beer. It’s just going to go in the dumpster anyway. It will give the folks a little something to celebrate. Free beer!
I was in Mississippi over the weekend for a wedding. Many areas we drove through were so depressed! Vacant, run-down homes everywhere, businesses closed, etc. And the roadways are simply awful!
When I was in college I didn’t care where the beer came from!................
I grew up there.
