Distressing bodycam video captured the moment police in Westchester County fatally shot a man accused of stealing fruit – which his father described as a “modern-day lynching.”
Three New Rochelle cops — identified as Kari Bird, Gabrielle Chavarry and Detective Steven Conn — confronted Jarrell Garris, 37, at a grocery store on July 3, according to Fox News.
“What were you doing in the store? You were eating the food?” one of the two female cops asks Garris as he walks away.
Conn tells Garris he is under arrest, but he begins to struggle with the officers as they try to handcuff him.
“Tase him! Tase him! Tase him!” Conn yells.
“He’s got a gun! He’s got a gun!” the cop then yells as Garris appears to place his hand on the belt of one of the officers.

That sucker’s reparation check bounced.
Bullshit. Police are the most cost effective thing government does. If you do not pose a threat to police or others your chance of a violent encounter with the police is essentially zero.
Jean Valjean?
👍🏻👍🏻
Funny thing is Riverdale in the Bronx is considerably nicer than the neighborhood in Yonkers that it borders. Much of the north Bronx (Williamsbridge, Baychester) is not as nice as the Bronx nabes to the immediate southeast on the sound (Pelham Bay, City Island).
Not worth it. Get more backup.

Your comment:
If you scuffle with police then reach for their belts, you are tempting fate
Absolutely. Who resists physically when cops are trying to talk to you and see what the heck is going on? A suicidal nut, that's who.
Your excellent point also underlines the lunacy of having females attempt to arrest males. If there's one female officer in the US capable of physically controlling a male who is resisting arrest for doing something nutty, it's a lot.
Female policemen is such a lame idea, it's unfair to criminals. They look at the girl, and say, "She can't stop me," and shake her off. The situation can't be allowed to get out of control, for the sake of the officers and the public, so any backup cops have to shoot the guy. Maybe over something that turns out to be trivial.
But if the arrest is made by an intimidating male, resistance is way less likely, and the event finishes with everyone alive. Female cops are dangerous to everyone, including themselves, because they aren't intimidating--in many cases, not even to other women.
Randy Weaver’s wife would argue with you. The Branch Davidians would disagree with you. And it was the Police who rounded up the Jews in Eastern Europe and Germany in the 1939s and 1940s. And held them for the SS. What threat were they? Ditto with the Soviet Union of Soviet Citizens [land owners, bankers, professionals]for the NKVD. But if you worship Big Government. Be careful you don’t end up on the losing side. But if you do... So what? Life goes on..... Just maybe not for you.
“What were you doing in the store? You were eating the food?”
What generated that confrontation? Do these cops normally ask shoppers those questions? Did the store drop a dime on the guy?
Money earnin’ Mount Vernon…
Female cops. Not great. So much for not escalating a stupid sitution.
I’ve had the same thought...
"If you do not pose a threat to police or others your chance of a violent encounter with the police is essentially zero."
Some articles at FreeRepublic.com over the years, showing that notion to not be true.
Gotta admit, your post wasn’t making a lot of sense.
I suspect the deceased had serious mental issues.
“Some?” Out of how many millions of encounters people have had with the police?
“ Instead, even though the police knew he experienced schizophrenia...” A questionable assumption, made by a pol.
I guess the cops should just assume everyone is insane, and act accirdingly.
In the marina there is a monument and a plaque with the 151 Huguenot names for the original families when the city was founded in the 1680s
The guy surely looked like he was resisting....seriously resisting. It’s not difficult to imagine that the shooting could have been justified.
Rob and Laura Petrie lived in New Rochelle.
