Distressing bodycam video captured the moment police in Westchester County fatally shot a man accused of stealing fruit – which his father described as a “modern-day lynching.”
Three New Rochelle cops — identified as Kari Bird, Gabrielle Chavarry and Detective Steven Conn — confronted Jarrell Garris, 37, at a grocery store on July 3, according to Fox News.
“What were you doing in the store? You were eating the food?” one of the two female cops asks Garris as he walks away.
Conn tells Garris he is under arrest, but he begins to struggle with the officers as they try to handcuff him.
“Tase him! Tase him! Tase him!” Conn yells.
“He’s got a gun! He’s got a gun!” the cop then yells as Garris appears to place his hand on the belt of one of the officers.

But aren’t some people allowed to walk out of a store with under $1,000 in merchandise without paying? Didn’t have to kill him!
Killed for eating a stolen apple? Nope. Suicide by cop.
It would appear that if the deceased had paid for his food or complied with police, there’s a better than average chance he would have never been arrested over some fruit and he’d be in Greensboro with his son right now.
But…..NOPE
Perps gotta be perps.
Killing people is what the Police do best.
Only thing I know of New Rochelle is its mention in a Biggie Smalls rap song…
In this case, better than getting killed themselves. But I guess we can’t expect black people to comply.
looks like this family will win in court and rightfully so.
Another black guy who because of his own stupid actions, is shot by a cop. It seems as if some of these families draw straws to see who will go out and provoke a cop into shooting them so all the others can cash in. Let’s see how much this Ghetto Lottery winner gets.
You can slice it a number of different ways, but our society is in a weird place.
Load up the shopping cart with $1000 worth of stuff and just walk out. “There’s nothing we can do”.
Go into a store and eat an apple? Well, if you’re not careful, the cops will show up and shoot you.
And taking a step back from it all ... if you’re fed up with the world, and just too tired to go on, but worry about leaving your family penniless ... well, why not go and get yourself shot by the police? At least your family will end up with a million dollars.
It’s all crazy. This society is dysfunctional on a thousand levels.

If you scuffle with police then reach for their belts, you are tempting fate — no matter what your color.
Dumbass
Bottom line: Yes!
Cops are taught out the gate that every petty thief is out to kill them at any time. Then, their careers are spent dealing with the worst social problems out there. This is what that sort of thing creates.
It’s a zero trust society. When Chicagoland has a database of police who are no longer permitted to testify in court due to their lack of credibility and prior perjuries, and the database is hundreds of cops long...
"Or?" They don't need a reason. They're itching for a chimp-out.
I live 40 mins from New Rochelle. Iona College is located there. Its very typical of elitist liberal towns- there’s one side of town with beautiful homes that go for $1.2/$1.5/$1.8 million. Then there’s areas that are complete crapholes.
It used to be a beautiful place but like most areas, people navigated further North as the riff-raff moved in
Sounds like another case of failed affirmative action hires
So he reached for a banana, not a gun?
It has been a long time, but there was a study that more perps ended up shot when confronted by female police officers. The rationale went that the ability of female officers to physically intimidate perps is limited and end up using weapons more. We see that here. The guy is large, and he tries to ignore the cops. They are end up trying to wrestle him to the ground. This had bad ending from the start.
