This may have been excessive.
Homeless guy didn’t actually touch or threaten anyone, and the guy kept him in a chokehold for 15 minutes?
I’m thinking he better get a real good lawyer.
He subdued some homeless azzhole who was making an azz out of himself in a threatening manor on the subway.
The azz died later.. good riddance. Need more folks stepping up to end this BS.
I can’t breathe.
Prayers up.
This Marine had better get to a nation that has no extradition to the US, quickly.
There is no such thing as "Fair" here, particularly New York.
A Marine vet, who took matters into his own hands.
Watch for the democrats to seek to categorize marine vets as deadly weapons, and ban them from being in the general population. ;)
Thank you for your service and thank you for removing this fecal material in semi human form.
If you are headed Uptown on the F Train, sometimes it is cheaper to take a cab.
Subdue an aggressor with a choke hold for 30 seconds they’ll be OK, choke them out for 15 minutes = No Bueno.
Interesting that the media so quickly identify one the combatants as a Marine but rarely identify a perpetrator as an Illegal alien, muslim or black when they’re accused of a crime.
Watch for family of the deceased to pop out of the woodwork with a lawyer.
They are likely rehearsing the learned skill of “crying” on cue once the CNN reporter begins asking questions about the dead guys childhood and favorite foods.
Give that marine a monetary medal
Was this a fully auto or semi auto Marine?? Might have to ban them, :/
In the context of a NYC subway, where it is documented homeless mentally ill persons have pushed people in front of trains, gone on stabbing sprees, etc, if this was put before me as a juror in a court I would not convict. This is a direct consequence of big city DAs not prosecuting crimes and releasing criminals immediately causing everyone to be unsafe.
Subduing this guy in this context was reasonable rather than wait for him to further work himself up and potentially (because future acts are not known) begin stabbing people. Then it is too late and innocents are hurt or killed. Since the police, DA, and city government want these mentally ill people terrorizing the population, this is an unfortunate result. A mentally ill guy goes off on a subway, people should feel threatened for their lives.
He wasn't in danger, he just ran out of air.
Good Lord.
Give him some free needles and a safe place to shoot-up and he'll be OK....until the next time..
We need MANY MORE warriors on the streets of America.
NYC is the anus of America.
It wasn’t a choke hold.
Choke holds must by definition compromise the airway. The blond man’s elbow was correctly positioned to preserve the crazy dude’s airway.
And whether the sleeper hold was what killed him will be up the coroner, not the Daily Caller.
The Sleeper Hold, properly executed, has NOTHING to do with oxygen or oxygen deprivation.
There’s a carotid artery and a jugular vein on either side of the neck. As is usually the case, nature positioned the blood delivery (the carotid artery) deeper inside the body than the blood return (the jugular vein). In addition, the carotid is more structurally rigid than the jugular, meaning it takes more pressure to pinch off.
Putting the crook of your elbow under the victim’s chin preserves the airway but allows you to simultaneously compress both sides of their victim’s neck. As you increase the pressure applied, the jugular will tend to be compress sooner, both because it’s closer to the skin and because it structurally is more susceptible to constriction.
When you constrict the jugular (blood return) more than the carotid (blood delivery), blood pressure in the head will spike. Baroreceptors in the carotid sinus detect this spike and to prevent your brain exploding these baroreceptors send a signal to the heart instructing it to SLOW DOWN.
When the heart responds, blood pressure drops dramatically. When your heart rate or blood pressure (or both) drops suddenly and dramatically (think standing up too fast), the brain simply shuts down. It’s called “reflex syncope.” and you pass out.
And that’s how a sleeper hold works.

Short drop hanging demonstrates that choking someone to death takes more than a few seconds. Being suspended by a rope around your neck supporting your entire body weight applies much more pressure to your neck than even Royce Gracie’s sleeper hold, and victims of short drop hanging have been known to struggle 20-30 minutes before dying.
Sleeper holds can put you out in single-digit seconds.
