No. The unhinged guy took his chances by threatening everyone. It’s called *consequences*. HE could have been then one to kill others.

It just happened to be his turn this time. Don’t do stupid things like threaten others if you don’t want payback.

“This may have been excessive.”

That hold has a lot of names, one being a real naked choke. If synched in it is designed to start the first stages of unconsciousness in a few seconds and kept on for more than a couple of minutes will cause brain damage.

It’s taught in most military combatives and used like this it is deadly. I have no idea why he left it on for so long as the receiver was most likely out after about 15 seconds at best. Choke holds come from Kodocan Judo and were perfected and employed in Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) in the 1990’s starting the fad of use by civilians.

He saved someone from getting stabbed, beaten, robbed or otherwise abused. You think he should have let him up to continue? No cops, no transit police, scrotes and deranged are loosed on the city... this has to happen. He did the best he could.

You really think “This may have been excessive”?
Can you see the future?
I think the risk of doing nothing would have put others at risk.

Edmund Burke had this line about, “All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing.”
*****************************
Thank God for this sentence:
“The 24-year-old Marine was taken into custody and later released without charges, pending the results of an investigation and autopsy report.”
**************************************
That Marine showed great courage to step up in NYC. He put himself at great personal risk. I wish him the best.
