Are you ready to say goodbye to all the high costs of owning a car and hello to a new electric cargo bike as a cost-effective alternative?
When first I saw this invention, I thought it seemed crazy.
While an electric cargo bike may not be suitable for everyone, particularly those who need to transport large or heavy items, it is a viable option for many seeking a more sustainable and cost-effective mode of transportation.
**SNIP**
And hey, I could use the exercise and the help of a battery-powered ride when things get heavy.
That's the idea behind the Mate SUV cargo bike. It is environmentally friendly, promotes physical activity, and can be more maneuverable in urban areas. Also, research shows that using an electric bike for transportation can save thousands of dollars per year compared to car ownership.
The new electric cargo bike is called the Mate SUV, and it originally came about back in 2016 as an inexpensive folding e-bike. Now it's been redesigned, and it promises the convenience of a car and the agility of a bike. It was originally made in Copenhagen, which is known to be a bike-friendly city, in the hopes of having more families opt to use these bikes over cars.
The Mate SUV's 250W motor can go 16 miles per hour at top speed and range up to 62 miles with a single battery charge. It comes with integrated front and back lights and an LED lightbar that frames the front box. It also has features like location tracking, unspecified "anti-theft protection," and a USB jack to keep your phone powered. You can add accessories to this bike as well, including a child seat, off-road tires, and an all-weather roof.

Cops were still using them in the Atlanta airport the last time I was there.
How soon before electric bikes and cars are outlawed “beca7se they cause too much environmental damage getting the materials needed to build them” and people forced to hire rickshaws to,get to work?
It’s amazing how many fools I see on FR embracing the palpably inferior EV technology. There must be a giant koolaid factory somewhere pumping out tons of EV flavored brainwash.
Let's all regress to the streets of Shanghai, Singapore, Bangkok, Mumbai, etc.
On another note, in Copenhagen, where this electric rickshaw was renovated, the winter use of this EV is very restricted.
I get it, we will live in our 15 minute kennel city.
There will be no pets, we won’t have children—the state will make them as needed.
Marriage is no longer a thing they’ve been acclimating us that by destroying its meaning.
not optional
may be the only personal transport most will be able to afford
that and the bus
thats the plan
They work very well in Viet Nam and North Korea, places Fox NeverTrump News wants America to become.
I have an electric assist trike. I **love***love***love*** my trike! I use it to commute to my university classes and park just in front the building entrance.
Actually, I was curious to see who would be triggered by my comment about negative thinking. I figured someone would be defensive enough to reply.
And there you are.;-)
With (6) kids + government-mandated car seats. At Costco :)
Simple. One parent stays home, the other makes six 24-mile round-trips to haul all the loot home.
These devices are not meant to replace cars or trucks but are an inexpensive solution in **some** (maybe many) circumstances.
For me, my electric trike takes me to and from my university classes less expensively and more quickly ( about 15 mins.)than either my car or public transport. When the weather is bad, I use my car and pay the $16 to park my car or plan for the hour or more it takes for public transport.
Oh yeah. That’s WAY better than owning an SUV!
[A heavy downpour would work wonders on that tricycle .... fill up the basket]
Yeah, but then you can wash while out on the streets!
C’mon man!!!
I visit factories from time to time.
Such vehicles have been in daily use for a long time now. They are used by employees who need to quickly travel from one point to another within the factory. The basket is needed to move stuff about.
In my view, there is nothing new here
It’s going to be tough loading up the kids and taking them up the side of a mountain to make S’mores and search for Sasquatch with that piece of crap.
Ah, they’re forcing us into the Chinese model of transportation. Get your bicycles and your welders ready, you’ll be making customized conveyances.
Perfect for the 15-minute city.
They are the only thing inside Disney World that impressed me. That was thirty years ago, I think.
They were still there in 1991, and I suspect they are still there. Now there are cars mixed in with that mess.
