An American Airlines plane collided with a shuttle bus on a taxiway at Los Angeles International Airport Friday night, injuring five people.
The collision happened just after 10 p.m. local time when American Airlines’ A321 plane was being towed from a gate and the bus was transporting passengers between terminals.
“The aircraft that was being towed from a gate to a remote parking location made physical contact with a bus traveling on the south side of the LAX airfield,” Los Angeles World Airports, the governing body for LAX
...
Of the five injured, four were transported to local hospitals including the tug driver.
...
The bus driver and two passengers were also hospitalized and were listed in fair condition.

This sort of stuff just plain didn’t used to happen. I mean, c’mon man, how hard is it to keep a passenger shuttle from colliding with a towed airplane?
Could it be the effect of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and the consequential reduction in hiring, training, and performance standards?
After all, it IS Los Angeles.
What’s Going On At Airports? - a third commercial plane mishap within a month .. on the heels of last month’s close call at JFK Airport in NYC ... and a similar incident last Tuesday at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas..
In the JFK incident, an American Airlines plane crossed a runway without getting clearance from air traffic control, which prevented a Delta Air Lines flight from taking off..
In the Austin incident, a Southwest passenger jet came within 100 feet of colliding with a FedEx cargo plane, but a quick-thinking pilot averted the disaster.

Progressives, stupid-evil though they are, didn’t sign up for this sh!t when they set off on that cool vacation to that awesome “undiscovered” place they read about on FarceBook. They expect “the system” to work perfectly and shuttle them without incident to their next pseudo-adventure.
Well, guess what proggies, “the system” has been dumbed down and otherwise adulterated to the point that it can’t bear your enlightened load.
I’m praying that there will be a large quantity of red pills consumed.
The tug driver not paying attention to what is going on around him
“Could it be the effect of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and the consequential reduction in hiring, training, and performance standards?”
..or the effect of California legalizing the use of pot?
This sounds weird. Shuttle buses at LAX don’t go anywhere near runways.

I’m guessing that the tug driver, pulling a 70,000 lb airplane at a freaking AIRPORT, kinda has the right-of-way.
But that’s just me. Your superior intellect may see it otherwise. Please enlighten me.
One od the two drivers must not have been wearing his
‘good glasses’ that day!
Maybe he/she was texting.
“hospitalized and were listed in fair condition.” -— That was apparently a bad collision, or no seatbelts?
“So how were you injured?”
“I was hit by a plane.”
“Wait. You were flying?”
“No, I was taking a bus.”
Oh I am sure he/she does.. but all it take is one screw up to mess up your day.
🤣🤣🤣 maybe
There are shuttle busses now that take passengers from Delta terminal 2 over to a new terminal west (I think) of the Tom Bradley International Terminal. The shuttles are on the same pavement as the planes, luggage trucks, etc. It was only a matter of time before a collision like this would occur.
You hit the nail on the head.
What altitude were they at, and why wasn’t the bus equipped with TCAS?
Driving while texting. Certainly was not looking out front while driving. Plane? What plane? Crash!
Excellent point
FWIW, if I’m reading the specifications properly (I’m very sleepy) looks like 107,000 - 110,500lbs empty weight.
Yeah, stay outta the way of that thing. Even if being towed.
