Anndel Taylor, 22, was killed while waiting out the massive snow storm

Taylor sent a final video to her family members from inside the car

Across Erie County, New York, 35 people have been killed during the storm

Three were found in cars despite an ongoing ban on personal road travel

New York Governor Kathy Hochul has declared a state of emergency

***************************************************

A 22-year-old woman has tragically frozen to death after spending 18 hours in her car while trying to wait out a historic snowstorm currently devastating Buffalo.

Anndel Taylor died over the weekend after her vehicle was stranded in snow Friday afternoon on her way home from work. She is just one of 35 who have succumbed to frigid conditions currently being seen in New York's second-largest city.

The death toll was released in a statement by officials Monday, who announced that Taylor was one of three motorists found dead in a car, defiantly taking to the road despite a ban on personal road travel that remains in effect.

It was stated that Taylor sent a video to her family before she died and was trapped in her vehicle for 18 hours, as more than 50 inches of snow surrounded her.

I wonder if her place of employment told her to come in.
I don’t have time to read the full article right now...

Terrible. Her mom believes that she died of carbon monoxide poisoning after the snow covered up her car’s tail pipe, and then she froze over inside after it ran out of gas or otherwise shut off.

Well, I sure hope they find a Republican politician that they can blame for this. [/s]

When stuck like that, you need to get out once in a while and clear the snow away from your tailpipe, so it doesn’t get blocked. Some activity once in a while will help keep you warm. That, and having a few blankets, real winter boots and emergency supplies in your car trunk.

What we were told to keep in our car in 1968 while in the military in Alaska.
Two wool blankets
two cans of Sterno and matches
One empty coffee can for body waste
hard candy.
You were expected to be wearing your winter survival parka and boots.

I would add to this list several Plumbers candles as they have a burn time of close to 4-5 hours. One or two will keep a car interior well enough warm to survive. add some C rations.

I did the same back in the “world” upon getting discharged. A survival pack in my cars. Same for the wife.

No one will die if global warming increases temps by a degree or 2.

Heartbroken for this young woman and her family...

Please remember, the snow can block your tailpipe. Others have died the same way.
