Some families in the U.S. are taking to social media to share their dislike for Santa Claus.
Like Sierra McKenzie, who has three children aged three weeks to three years and went on TikTok to exclaim why she is against Jolly Old Saint Nick.
McKenzie, 23, had more to say. “Telling kids that Santa is real is a lie, and I don’t believe in building my kids up on a lie,” McKenzie, who hails from North Dakota, told The New York Post.
“Your kids can still enjoy the magic of Christmas without believing in Santa,” she said, adding that the presents under her tree will be marked “From: Mom and Dad,” according to the Post.
McKenzie says she doesn’t tell her kids Santa “sees you when your sleeping” or any of that. She says he’s a made up character.
Must make for awkward conversations with their friends.
“The magic of Christmas shouldn’t be built up on Santa,” McKenzie told the Post. “It’s about the gift of giving to one another.”
The Post pointed out that the hashtag #SantaIsntReal on TikTok has garnered more than 14 million views with other parents ripping Santa and saying they won’t play ball with the traditional beliefs about him.
“I don’t want to scare my children into thinking that they have to behave a certain way or that they were more ‘naughty or nice,’ than another child based on Christmas gifts,” said Chloe Amelle, 24, a mom of two and parenting influencer from southern Utah.
Apparently telling kids Santa isn’t real is a form of something called “gentle parenting.”

Not at all. Santa Claus is a JudeoChristian derivative of a Catholic saint. We can agree on that much? And i am raised Lutheran.
No one that I know is worshipping Santa. To many, he’s obviously a kind crazy fat man in a red suit with flying reindeer.
Jesus is the reason for the season, absolutely. But as a Christian agent, St Nick, Americanized to Santa Claus, is a simple way to let children learn giving and kindness are good spirits to have in your heart. And that bit of kindness may keep them from being unreformed Scrooges.
Then why not tell children the gifts are from Jesus?
I don’t follow after catholic saints btw.
I know that i have Grace and Redemption. I need that because I know well and good, that on my best day , i am still a sinner. And daily, multiple times, i pray for forgiveness.
Santa Clauses are no threat to Jesus.
Santa isn’t a lie, but one of the many fantasies that make up childhood. If this woman took her kid to Disney World and they see a guy in a Mickey Mouse suit walking down the street and the kid shouts with glee, “Look, Mommy! It’s Mickey!”, would she say, “No, dear. That’s just a guy in a Mickey Mouse suit”? I doubt it, because the fantasy of believing he saw the real deal is what makes it fun for the kid , and there is no harm in that. That world of wonder evaporates for most of us soon enough.
God certainly has a sense of humor. Consider the Elephant, the Axolotl, the Dugong - and Joseph Biden as President.
Giraffes and hippopotamuses get me every time.
That world of wonder evaporates for most of us soon enough.
The first time a child holds a lighted match for too…….OUCHSUMBITCH….long.
Everyone gets one childhood. I wanted my kids to have fun. The Santa/Easter Bunny/Tooth Fairy traditions are merely fun games of anonymous gift-giving.
; )
Taking the Japanese approach, Sant Claus or Saint Nicholas would be regarded as a kami. One of the gods or angels who do divine work.
Santa Claus is real. His spirit invests millions of people.
And he is NOT a lie.
Gentle parenting is generally a good way to raise feral children with few boundaries. Rules don’t apply, ever. Everything is negotiable.

So take that, all you Scrooges out there!
Then why not tell children the gifts are from Jesus?
Well, a difficult question, because that would actually be a lie also. Next, little Jimmy will be praying nightly, “and God bless Mommy, and Daddy, and please give me a bicycle, Amen.”
I know that that is not what you mean.
“It ain’t necessarily so”.

Yeah, then next thing you the kid is demanding reparations.

Then why thank God for Blessings? Afterall, Blessings certainly don’t come from some catholic “saint”
Psalm 140:13
King James Version
13 Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto thy name: the upright shall dwell in thy presence.
So you don’t approve of Santa……..we get it.

So in your own words you are defending your choice to lie to your children in defense of a religious myth, but not in defense of telling children that all gifts are a gift of God.
Not intending in any way to be argumentative, but trying to persuade you to examine your own words.
Some gen z’er who think they know more then their parents or grandparents do in raising kids
