Quote:
Then why not tell children the gifts are from Jesus?
Well, a difficult question, because that would actually be a lie also.
So in your own words you are defending your choice to lie to your children in defense of a religious myth, but not in defense of telling children that all gifts are a gift of God.
Not intending in any way to be argumentative, but trying to persuade you to examine your own words.
Saint Nicholas is a real saint, if you’re Catholic.
Santa Claus is a Protestant derivative, IIRC
I remember being a child,, nearly seven decades ago, and the wonder that is Christmas morning, a celebration of Jesus birth. If you don’t care to include St Nicholas, or St Nick, or Santa Claus, I’m good with that. I’m still going to wish a truly good spirited Merry Christmas to all. Even if someone responds, Bah humbug. And i am a sinner, asking forgiveness daily, but God made me the person i am, so i must be perfect until i sin.
And yes, Jesus is the reason for the season.
And I’m going to guess that you’re not going to be much fun at Easter.
BTW, He is Risen.
I know that God has a sense of humor, and has a sense of all things. When angels of the Lord aren’t protecting me, they make sure I can’t find my keys. No point in cursing, at all.
“Now i lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord my soul to keep,
And if i die before i wake,
I pray the Lord my soul to take.
Amen”
And Good night.
