AP films Ukrainian security services as they hunt down and arrest civilians with pro-Russian views in Kharkov. The man in the video is detained for making anti-Ukrainian posts on social media...

“When Government determines Truth, Truth is Government.”
“Nine out of ten Neocons agree; when lying to promote ILLEGAL military intervention, anything goes!”
These are noble Ukrainians!
They just happen to be against free speech under the homoerotic dictator Zelensky.
Has the crisis at the southern border been solved? Why are you wasting your time on Ukraine threads again?
No, the invasion is ongoing and I remain here, at my post, trying to get Neocon pigs to avert their eyes away from Zelenskyy’s azz and to America’s problems.
Putin was throwing people prison for having “wrong talk” about his invasion months ago.
I hate to say it, but in war-time that’s actually an established practice. It was done to Eugene V. Debbs for his anti-war views, and he ran for POTUS from his jail cell and garnered a few electoral votes from renegade electors. In fact, I agree with him that American involvement in WW I was a bad idea. Abraham Lincoln suspended Habeas Corpus and arrested editorialists for expressing dissenting opinions.
I’m not saying I like it, but there is precedent.
Gee where have we seen this scene play out before?
Those “pro-Russians” must be monstrous Mongols who deserve whatever bad fate they get.
/SARCASM but close to the actual attitudes of many of the low-information crowd amongst us.
So you are for the Ruskies?
Boy it sure was nice when we had President MAGA Trump who could chew gum and walk and talk at the same time.
Ukraine is at war and arresting people who are so bold as to announce their anti-Ukrainian sympathies is common sense. The US has done the same thing during our various wars.
The Ukrainians should take this one step further and arrest and deport anyone found to have a Russian passport.
They were also doing this before the war started
Unlike Viktor, whose Kharkiv apartment was raided, 86-year-old Volodymir Radnenko didn’t seem surprised when Ukrainian security arrived at his flat Saturday to search it after detaining his son, Ihor. The military said the son was suspected of helping the Russians in shelling of the city — some of which occurred in Radnenko’s neighborhood about 15 minutes before the officers showed up, and the smell of smoke lingered in the area. At least two people were killed and 19 others wounded in the region.
“He is used to thinking that Russia is all there is,” Radnenko told AP after the officers left. “I ask him: ‘So who is shelling us? It’s not our (people), it’s your fascists.’ And he only gets angry at that.”

“Although the Zelensky government enjoys broad support all over Ukraine there are citizens who express support for the Russian aggression.”
I am certain Orwell did not intend his “1984” as an instruction manual.
Don’t betray your country and you won’t be hunted down.
Pretty simple, really.

I’m sure they will be treated within the rules of the Geneva Convention. /sarc
Coming soon to America
Oh for Pete’s sake, of course Ukraine is doing that. You think Russia is above all that?
These countries are at war (I don’t give a damn what Putin calls it) and I expect them and their allies to play the propaganda war too.
Apparently if some of us think Ukraine ought to fight back, and hard, we’re all neocons, NWO and Soros flunkies. That’s BS. Sick of the labels and really sick of conservatives demonizing other conservatives who don’t agree with them. That’s what the left does. It’s disgusting.
What if you disagree that your Democratically elected candidate was deposed or cheated out of office? What if you disagree with forced vaccines? Betrayal is rapidly becoming anyone who disagrees. Before you get snide…I put my money where my mouth is on the front lines as a warfighter against America’s enemies. The right to disagree used to be part of the Constitution. Especially for individuals
