Need Manly Information. A family member is selling his big diesel truck and thinking of purchasing a Raptor. Two people disparaged the Raptor and said it was a "kids truck". Manly Freepers?

“What you are talking about is outlawed here”

Where do you get that? I read what he said and it is correct. I would much rather have my 94 Dodge cummins over anything made now. I work on diesels for a living and own a shop. They are only required to have what that year requires. And if it happens to be better to have less then good...

“They are only required to have what that year requires.”

I’m thinking this is why restoration and/or retro-rods are the ways to go.

Depends what you want it for. A heavy duty work truck, town and highway luxury truck, off road?

High rate of pleased Raptor owners.

The early 6.2 Raptors are worthy of owning if you can find one. The newer V6 twin turbo, MEHHHH.

the only person’s opinion about the truck that matters is the person that bought it...

that’s all...

The refining process does produce a certain amount of the lighter fractions, but my understanding is that the heavier fractions (diesel) can be prioritized in the process, depending on the feedstock. But I am an electrical engineer, not a petroleum engineer. Plus, they may be making gasoline, but not transporting it to where people can get it. Diesel is also easier to store long term.

My 2020 Silverado RST may not be able to outrun the Raptor off the line, but I’ve got an extra $30K to spend on gas. Thanks Brandon!

Yep, That 94 Dodge dually is the newest thing I have. A 78 Chevy 4X4 van is he next newest thing I got. Everything else is even older.

And so I am good to go until they decide that new requirements have to be retroactive and retrofitted. That is when I will drastically change my lifestyle and get a good Missouri fence jumping mule. :)

But I have never bought a new car in my life, and I never will. I have no problem changing my lifestyle to never have to. :)

It’s a truck and fits the owners needs. If your identity is tied up to your vehicle somethings wrong with you not the vehicle.

I drove a Mercury Grand Marquis most of my 40’s. My wife, kids and relatives called it an old farts car. I didn’t give a crap, it glided down the road, was big, had a V8 for power and just kept going and going and did what I needed it to do.

Yeah Crown Vic and Merc Marquis were fine machines.
Sadly gone from production.

Can’t make big sedans because of fuel mileage regs so everybody is driving 4-door 6000lb pickups as the family car now.

Absolutely true. It used to be a bad-ass truck, now it's a very expensive piece of crap.

I do not think that bear could have jumped clean over that fence unless pursued by that fearless “tiger.”

The raptor is a Ford designed off-road vehicle/truck.

At least is not a BroDozer like I see all over the south.
