About half my family is of Russian ancestry. My grandmother was from the old country. The key to understanding Russians is that they are drama queens. Once you know that, lots of things fall into place.
Of course, they are tough too....but still drama queens. The two things are not mutually exclusive.

Unfortunately, there are a helluva lot of scammers in Russia who look to just get their green card and then drain their husband dry financially in the divorce proceedings. I’m sure there are a lot of good and honest Russian women who are not at all like this, but the prevalence of scammers has made a lot of guys I know hesitant about getting into a relationship with them. Which is a shame because to me Russian is THE sexiest accent in the world for a woman.

My neighbor imported and married a Russian woman. 4 weeks later she was knocking on my door with suitcases while crying—all she could say was “airport.”
No idea about Russian women. OTOH, in any relationship foreign or otherwise, the foundational values instilled by Christian faith are the best base on which to build a lifetime together. Those values transcend ethnicity, color and language.
Other than the ‘devoushka’ business, just about all of this sounds like standard operating procedure about 50 years ago. As things devolved from then, you pretty much had to figure out the rules as you went along, and generally they seemed to vary from devoushka to devoushka.
