IHOP is making a sizzling side dish the main entrée.
Bacon is getting its own menu at the pancake house with a thick-cut, steakhouse-style variety of the breakfast staple slathered in maple glaze, IHOP announced Tuesday.
The "Bacon Obsession" menu features bacon the chain describes as "five times thicker" than its regular bacon. And while the breakfast meat can be ordered solo, IHOP also has it featured on new menu items like the Steakhouse Premium Bacon Burger and a Maple Bacon Milkshake.
The breakfast staple will be served all day through June 13. IHOP's menu will also include Candied Bacon Pancakes that are loaded with hickory-smoked bacon bits; a Steakhouse BLT; Bacon Lovers Combo, which are two Candied Bacon Pancakes with slabs of the thick-cut breakfast meat; and the Oreo ‘N Bacon Waffle Sundae among other items.
"As guests begin to return to restaurants, we know they’re looking for broadly appealing and familiar comfort foods, as well as new ways to enjoy classic favorites, and bacon is the perfect option that fits both needs," Jay Johns, President at IHOP, said in a statement.
IHOP teased the release of its "premium" thick-cut bacon on social media, leading some food critics to address the hype.

I can be there in 30 minutes.
Always had good food at IHOP.
I’ll keep cooking mine from Sams and save 80%.
I used to go to IHOPs, but most times they were too crowded and too noisy. Now, (post-COVID) there are probably restrictions on how many can be seated in the Dining Room.
So, that means less elbow to elbow dining. Less long waits in the Lobby, waiting for an open table. The menus are probably still huge and laminated.
Gonna need that.. Soon.
Oh Lord, the food Nazi’s will have a cow.

It’ll go good with the Rachel Corrie Special.
More pork grease in the air
I don’t know how IHOP is now, but on a road trip last fall from one free state to another, we had to overnight in a democrat shutdown state. The only dine in restaurant we could locate was an IHOP. Almost completely empty, limited menu printed on paper.
I’m sorry I will miss that.
Curtis or Neeses Bacon for this Greensboro boy
Ive always been partial to brined, cold smoked, thick cut pork-belly.
I grew up eating “sow belly” and would have it at my grandparents. It’s slightly different than regular bacon and has a rind.
Sure,
But sometimes it’s just nice to let someone else do the cooking and cleaning and have a day off.
IHOP. Yes I want to eat there after watching their commercials of a screaming fat black man standing on the roof of an IHOP restaurant throwing food at people.
I just gained 10 pounds and my cholesterol count went up 50% just by looking at that picture. I’m no health nut. And yes I would enjoy eating stuff like that. But no more than once a year.
