Though Branson and Springfield to the north still has an addiction problem caused by the CIA drug running that area. LOL, going to the airport to watch planes come and go was a favorite outing for us. With five kids and a stay-at-home mom, money was better spent on things besides entertainment. We loved to stand on the observation deck and watch the planes AND it was free. We were so much more free in the 50’s and 60’s.
On the thread about McMurtry’s death, I read that he wrote the screenplay for “Brokeback Mountain”. Never read any of his books, but I am familiar with his name.
Never had an opinion one way or the other about him, but this tidbit certainly colors any thinking toward him on my part.
