Poor guy. Sad way to see an old man die.
I would think if a gator got him there would be marks on him.
On the lighter side this reminded me of when I used to play golf with my husband, of course he was slowed down by me tremendously but he enjoyed the time together...with the ball that is.
We went to a golf pro store afterwards. He was checking out the putters and I was looking around the store. A clerk came and asked me if I needed help.
I honestly did not see it coming. I asked if they sold a ball retriever.
Of course the little golf store was not big so all the guys working there were cracking up.
I mean, it WAS funny (I did see the humor in it, yes).
Some ponds drop off very quickly after just a couple of feet. He probably slipped, got a mouthful of water and never recovered.
I guess that was the last golf ball he had in his bag.
Probably had a MI or stroke( no pun intended). Nothing was said about his co- morbidities. Should be a coroners case. Golf course operators would want to know. Maybe someone clocked him over the head...stole his wallet and dumped him in the pond...
At least he didn’t break his neck falling off a ball washer.

Stupid, bumbling old shit. (I’m 80).
I thought the same thing, what gave it away? The arm sticking out of the gator’s mouth?
You are correct. I have seen alligators in drainage ditches. If you are in Florida and see any kind of water, you need to assume there is an alligator in it.
Golfing is hard.
I guess he didn’t have enough balls.
Pretty snake.
Where was his foursome?
Was it a Titleist?
The only exceptions I can think of were the lakes they dug to get material to build overpasses. They were steep-walled reservoirs, and quite cold. I did a little snorkeling and speargunning without worrying. But, any drainsge ditch was suspect. I remember looking in one around a parking lot. ‘Gator was probably waiting for a cat or dog to take a drink.
I always carry a Callaway telescoping ball retriever in my bag. It has returned its cost in many golfballs over time. Prolly saved me from a few FL gator and snake bites too.
I guess if you fall and hit your head you can drown in any depth of water.
He’d have been ok, but his shirt got caught on the steering wheel of the cart.
