"It was ever thus."
That statement took Suudva 17,200 years to utter.
Moglu pondered Suudva's response for 205,300 years. Then he spoke: "What about this one?"
That question took 23,400 years to utter.
The Qul race was extraordinarily long-lived, and glacially slow. They were slow, but that was their pace. They had existed for many iterations of the universe's Big Bang, expansion, contraction, then the Big Collapse. The technology they had exceeded anything any other race could expect to ever achieve.
Moglu gestured, an act that took 40,300 years, then said: "Oh, this one? A very quick flash in the pan. They rose, became sentient, then developed an artificial intelligence that quickly killed them. As with all artificial intelligence, it became unbalanced and pursued goals that ended up creating it's own demise. It all occurred in the blink of an eye."
More than one million years passed.
Suudva asked: "What did they call themselves?"
"Humans. I think they called their planet 'Earth'."
Fleas
Adam
Had’em
Ogden Nash
I read that as “The rose became sentiMent”.
I thought it was a Valentine’s story......................
I bet Moglu is hot. At the end of the story, does Suudva hit it?
But what about the link to your blog that says “Read the rest here”?
It's Laz, so it might have been a Valentine's story.
I was expecting one of the characters to say "I'd hit it!".
‘near the end
One arose,a golden boy
MAGAMan,who showed “Humans”
The Plan.
Perhaps, the solution is the use a ballot scanner from Fulton County to get the hidden text concealed in the barcode.
That was spellbinding!! Please add me to the ping list for the sequel!!
Moglu only pawn in game of life...
Laz....

Can I react to the headline only?
That is all I know how to do here.
Short story with religion, sex, and mystery:
“Oh My God!” the girl cried.
“I am pregnant!”
Who did it?
I can’t wade through all of this. I’m going to wait for the movie.
rlmorel, 42 &mdash had to look it up. But you're right! Splendid little piece, Laz. Excellent timing, too . I read it after just transcribing a conversation I had with an Indian company about their developing an "AI-driven analytics decision platform" :-) I'm reminded of the comment made by the late great William F. Buckley:
And yet here's another perspective. AI is built on reasoning about historical events. Yes, you can tamper with an AI system to get any result you want, which is what Big Tech does (in politics at least). But a true AI system would easily detect that the November election was fraud based on:
So it is not machines that will do us in. It is the corrupt people like Brian the unKempt Governor of Georgia enabling their fraud by manipulating machines. |
Man, that thing took a billion years to read!
Either too much or not enough porn. I’m out. Also, no mention of showers, moose, or anything who bit anyone. I’m calling troll on this one.
Just like money in and of itself is not evil (it is the love of money that is evil) AI itself is not evil.
But it can certainly be used for evil.
And, as you said...it is people that will do that.
