Splendid little piece, Laz.  Excellent timing, too .  I read it after just transcribing a conversation I had with an Indian company about their developing an "AI-driven analytics decision platform" :-)

I'm reminded of the comment made by the late great William F. Buckley:

"I'd rather entrust the government of the United States to the first 400 people listed in the Boston telephone directory than to the faculty of Harvard University." — or some %$#@! computer.

And yet here's another perspective.  AI is built on reasoning about historical events.  Yes, you can tamper with an AI system to get any result you want, which is what Big Tech does (in politics at least).

But a true AI system would easily detect that the November election was fraud based on:

• historic corruption and convictions in places like Detroit and Philadelphia;

• the propensity of fraud in mail-in ballots;

• the recent past corruption of legislators, governors & judges; and,

• the statistically impossible Biden avalanche of votes in the wee hours of the morning.

So it is not machines that will do us in.  It is the corrupt people like Brian the unKempt Governor of Georgia enabling their fraud by manipulating machines.

Just like money in and of itself is not evil (it is the love of money that is evil) AI itself is not evil.

But it can certainly be used for evil.

And, as you said...it is people that will do that.
