its quid pro quo but only to a select few with connections and money, that are kept from the rest of the paying students and families
and this takes a spot someone could have gotten by academic performance
plus they were creating out of thin air reasons why they were admitted, ie fake sports participation, that they didn’t do once at university, so even more lies to go with the lying cash for entry scheme
plus this now casts doubt on their kids’ college performance and degrees, they’ve screwed up their kids futures potentially
so yeah, i don’t feel one bit sorry for them

None of this was a crime. If they had fought this in court they may have even succeeded in getting one of the most idiotic “crimes” off the Federal books — “honest services fraud,” which should never be a crime when you’re dealing with private transactions and no demonstrable financial losses by anyone.
